Jeez, this is going to be the mother of all amp fests here. James, you should get some press involved. As much effort that you got going into this thing. Hell of a cool thing you are doing here and wish I could be in LA for it.

There's all kinds of cheap hotels on Lankershim in North Hollywood.

And I'll just bet, most of those there rent by the hour too!

They don't call it No Ho for nothin'.

Who said they were bringing their CCV? Definitely bring it, Mark had to take the one I had here.

James,

Can we sync up on an updated list of what you are under the assumption I'm bringing? I know there's been some overlap with other people bringing the same amp. I'm assuming I'm bringing:

Diezel Herbert
Splawn Nitro
Hughes & Kettner TriAmp MK II
Hughes & Kettner Trilogy
SLO100
JCA100H
Marshall 1974X

Please let me know if I've forgotten something.

Thanks!

Race,

I don't think anyone is bringing what you are. I'll check.

How about getting a lynch box or RM100 with brown module/SL+ or brahma wide open ?

I really think you guys should test the new Peavey 6534+

Unfortunately , I don't own one but they're cheap brand new and they seem awesome

here are 2 awesome youtube reviews :

Cool prep video James! FYI, you should arrange your small pedal board as follows:
Tuner->Phase90->OCD->Carbon Copy Delay. :)

Hey guys,

I want to take some time on Friday to play all the amps I can and get a feel for them and get some good sounds before Saturday. So I know some guys plan on coming from out of town and some guys want to come by Friday and hang help set up. I am closing the studio lunchtime Friday for this, so we will be in on Friday setting up amps, mics and cameras. If you want to come by and bring your amps anytime after 12 noon on Friday would be cool. Also we are going to dinner at 5pm, everyone who comes Friday is invited. Please RSVP to my email and post on the thread. I set up reservations for 10 already but that can be increased. I thought it be a fun day, we can jam some amps and then all get some dinner together. So let me know if you're coming on Friday and if you want to come to dinner at 5pm.

i'm curious about how you are linking protools to your camera.

most consumer cams have notoriously poor external audio inputs. limited headroom and dynamic range, noisy mic pres, cheap converters, cheezy to no metering, etc.

do you know of any way that you can capture live video from your camera live while simultaneously capturing digital audio from your protools feed, and totally bypass trying to feed audio into your camera?

you could label each clip uniquely in the capture software before you start and stop for each amp, and have unaltered high quality audio recorded through protools, and digitally fed to the video recording software/clip this way, provided you have the software and engine power to run both video and protools apps simultaneously/smoothly.

i think razamatix on this board is local to you and a film/tv sound mixer/recordist and may be able to shed some light on this for you.

i'm not sure if final cut pro can do this...see the camera feed on one port and another audio source simultaneously and in sync?

Getting the room ready. I bought a pair 4 tier racks (like psychodave has) for for my amps and mounted power strips on each one. Very cool. So after the show I will have them side by side in my control room. It'll be cool, 8 amps hardwired into the live room. Steve brought the Henning by and we cranked it, very cool amp. I can tell I'm gonna be moving some amps and getting new ones after this. I love all my heads but I've made so many records with some of them, it's time for change. We've been using the Reeves Super '78 all day tracking and it is one of the most incredible amps I've ever heard. Not super high gain, which is really more useful for a lot of the music I produce, this is gonna be a hell of a weekend.
