So I just played the Fortin Bones that was used for this video for awhile today...

I think that amp must not have been dialed in right for the amp shootout, as it really does sounds very good.
Rich, thanks for the invite brother,i made it home safe in all the flooding   It was I they can blame for the amp sounding bad   they should have let your recto loose in there but not having any time with anything was well ok   Glad you got to hear it man!!!

I think it also helped that we were using different speakers today (for folks who don't know what we're talking about, this has nothing to do with this thread...basically we were playing around with different pickups and amps and the Fortin Bones today, as I am looking for a new pickup to try in my Les Paul Custom).
\ The K-100/V30 Mix at my house works for the Fortin much better than the V30/75T cab, it would appear, though this has nothing to do with the way it was recorded.
I always think different amps just prefer different speakers.

I'm now on the lookout for a MCP Warcry though!

Rich, I'm curious to hear my Colossus H-100 with the K-100 / V30 combo. In the interest of my sanity, I'm still leaning toward the all V30 sure thing of your Mesa cab...

BTW, I modded a number of things and I think you're really going to like the changes. MUCH tighter bottom end and a bit more high end bite. I just wish I had adjusted things prior to the shootout! In any case, I'm looking forward to getting your input at NAMM.

Glad my input has helped Kyle.
Also cool an amp builder who attended the Amp Fest can tweak his designs and ideas after seeing, and experiencing so many other amps, and what makes people ooh and ahh.
very cool.

I'll talk to you more about our NAMM plans later.

Hey guys I have taken some real criticism and some very hurtful things have been said. I know some of you guy's favorite amps didn't sound so great but I can't control everything. I did my best to show the amps in a good light. Anyway, I'm considering pulling everything off the web, I know people have probably downloaded stuff but I make records for a living and for my crew's recording skills to be questioned in a public forum isn't good for my profession. Bottom line.

I ask one thing out of respect for me, if I take it down if you've downloaded it please to not post it on the net or on a forum, just keep it for yourself.

James

Dunno who is questioning your recording methods here James...I've seen nothing but positive here, and people just voting for their favorite amps of the bunch.
you getting slack on other forums?

I think you should leave the videos up. I see it as only a positive thing, and I'm sure 99% of those out there would agree.

Don't let the 1% of folks ruin it for the rest of us.
Even though I was there, I wasn't watching all the amps, or in the studio the whole time because I was playing around with the iphone live feed, and only have the videos to go on now, and would be a shame to miss them and have them disappear. I haven't even seen them all in their entirety yet.

Please put them back.

James, if you pull everything off the web, you'll only give whiners undeserved satisfaction. Please don't cater to their whims.
Show them you're better. If they don't like your way, they're always free to try themselves. It's that simple.

I agree. Fuck the haters. I know how much time and effort it takes to shoot a vid with about 15-20 amps. And I can't even imagine what it takes to set up something like Lugo's fest! Moreover, some amps are bound to record worse than others. Hey, we're all human beings, it's understandable. If, however, people don't have the ears to distinguish between poorly recorded and poorly sounding, hey.. FUCK THEM!

Hey Guys,

I am pretty damn disappointed in the users who blew James up on this. He put his blood, sweat and tears into doing this shoot out for you guys. He spent his own money and countless hours of studio time to give you guys the shoot out and few a whiners are going to ruin it for everyone.

James is a big boy and didn't complain or rat out the users who have been hammering him but if I did I would get rid of you in a heartbeat. It is beyond me people who sit on their ass and don't do anything but Monday morning quarterback and complain.

The fact is James is a well respected studio owner and engineer and has made a bunch of killer sounding recordings. If your "horse" in the shoot out sounded like shit, it sounded like shit. Not James fault, some of the amps werent up to the test. There were others that sounded amazing. No problem with the recording or technique. He recorded what he was getting out of the amp and honestly put it out there good or bad which was the whole point of the shoot out.

This forum and its ownership respect James Lugo as an engineer and a stand up member and my forum is a better place for him being here.

Too bad a few crybabies ruin it for the membership. I will respect James wishes and unstick the thread but I am pissed. My 2 cents.

Brad

Hi all,
i've just been lucky enough to watch the videos yesterday. Come back today and i'm sad to read james opinion. As hunter said i see really no reason for that. You've got more positiv comments than negativ by far and you deserv them and all the people who help you for this big session, the biggest i've ever seen.
Of course you are free to do what you want, but really there is no necessity for that. Perhaps many amp builders are not agree with that and this is the real reason. ;)
By the way, you have a small but very well equipped studio.

WHOA!!!Hey it was a cool event, overwhelming at the amount of amps there and as far as the recording part went,I think he did a great job,my amp sounded bad in there as it did on film   my fault,I've never dialed in an amp at those ubsurd volumes, and I sure as hell feel bad for misrepresenting anyone because I love my amp,I do wish we could of had more time to stick with the original game plan of ampfest instead of shootout and got to spend more time trying other gear and maybe a little more time but when that MOUNTAIN of amps came rolling threw,I knew that shit wasn't gonna happen,I was just hoping to home for Christmas

who is bashing Lugo?

let's chase them outta town with torches and pitchforks :codeak: :powpow: :uzi: :banhim:

out them JL and Brad will make them vaporize. this shootout should be a sticky for a year and anyone who is hating you for it should be ashamed of themselves. those armchair templemans are probably hung like a used birthday candle and lucky if they can afford strings for their squires mom bought them for not flunking out of high school..

Anybody who had the nerve to flame Lugo over this shootout is a first class douche who clearly has no place talking about amps or recorded tone. Clueless and classless. How about just go away...this place doesn't want or need you.

oh man, that sucks - a big fuck you to all those negative assholes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! - NO RESPECT!
Again a huge huge thank you James, I hope you put those video's up again sometime

I havent seen anybody complaining around here, i think everybody was happy james did it actually.
Sure some amps sounded shitty but when somebody records 85 amps that is to be expected.

I did see somebody linked the thread to another board because they thought it was cool and a few people complained about hearing the same songs played thru every amp, but it shouldnt matter because it wasnt intended for them anyway.

James i hope you leave the clips because i know in a month from now i will want to hear them again.
Theres plenty of people that buy amps and will wanna compare tones.

I've read a few of those comments and I don't get it. So "your" amp didn't sound good to you with those settings and on that cab....who cares? All that matters is that you like it. I think the point of the shootout was to give people who haven't or will never be able to play them some idea of how these amps sound and he succeeded 100%. Some people take this gear shit WAYYYY too serious.

I'm getting some emails from people that its me complaining.......its not......and I said that he should put the stuff back up.....too much work was put in to this by James to not put it up....and yes my amps sounded like shit..and I think looking back......I should have let James set the amp the way he would have... the amp sounded that way because of me not James......I was not used to that cab and I set it up too dark and had the master too low ......but thats on me....not James ......but these are just more clips you can check out.....along with others that are out there. This was not the last amp fest someone will have....I'm sure there will be more   your right.......Some people take this gear shit WAYYYY too serious
I thought the Aldrich JMP & the CCV were teH SECKS!!!!! :thumbsup:If that was a bad gig, i'd sure like to hear a good one.
