Can anyone give me a clip/vid of the 20th Anni XTC's blue channel without the boost on and then with the boost? Set it up for a higher gain tone if you would please.

Jim

I've been looking for clips of this amp too, but preferably with wl34's set for high gain.

Rob and JMR from Tone Merchant's have a great video on the 20th...just do a search on You Tube.

Since nobody else has done it yet and I had some time to kill this morning... The video below is the Blue Channel of the 20th Anniversary XTC (EL34 version). The signal path is Guitar straight into the XTC, into a Bogner 2x12 cabinet. Miked with a single Shure SM57 straight into the computer. The guitars are double tracked, panned hard left and right. Mixed dry. No FX, EQ, or post-processing were used.

I played the same thing 2 times. Once with the boost off, then with the boost on. I changed nothing else.

Gain was set to about 2:00 and the Volume was around 7:00 - whisper quiet. It was pretty early this morning so I wasn't able to really crank it... so with that in mind, here you go:

Thanks Tom! Cool riff. I really liked it with the boost engaged. Any way you could do something similar only with the red channel? Thanks!

That was a cool vid

I like the riff. I already know how great the amp sounds, even with the volume hardly on. :D

Thanks. If I get the chance to, I'll make some more clips of the amp since there don't seem to be too many examples out there yet. I may redo this one as well, at a more substantial volume level. I don't have a proper studio set up at my current home, so recording here is a pain in the ass, but it's possible. If I don't get a chance within the next week, It'll have to wait til after NAMM.

As for the riff... what I am playing is an altered version of a song called "All Comes Down". It's basically a rearrangement of several different layers for one guitar for live performance.

I'm pissed - I wanted to get some clips through my usual 2 to 3 mic set up but my preamp/MIDI interface is oon the blitz with a shoddy firmware upgrade - grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr... :gethim:

HENCE the reason I am currently asking for opinions on decent compact digital recorders like that of the ZOOM H4n, seems to be the best out of the bunch in the reviews. I want something I can slam down and lay tracks without the hassle. I still have to get my other shit back up and running, but it's been a point of frustration to say the least.

V.

PS - in short, they're still coming...hell or high water, they're still coming

I should have some recordings up in January, when my recording gear arrives. If there's any requests, let me know. I'll do my best to showcase the amp in how you would use it.

Oh, weird...

Are you telling us this changes the way you feel about Se7en now??

V. :hys:

No man, he's cool.
I've been wrestling with using Michael J Fox or Lou Diamond Philips for my avatar for a while now.

Thank you for making that clip. This amp is on my must-have-before-i-die list.

I see. Is there a part of you that perhaps WANTS to wrestle with Lou Diamond Philips? Or is this just a 'figuratively speaking' kinda thing

Have a great day folks - I'm back on the road returning from xmas holidays today... Looking forward to getting HOME!!

Peace Y'All,
V.
