Who makes the best 212 cabs for a reasonable price? I'm looking for an unloaded cab. Need something that can take a fair amount of bass and keep it tight. I've looked into Avatar, but wanted to see if there were any other recommendations. Thanks guys!

Find a used Bogner oversized and be done with it.

Splawn I've heard is a very good cab, and reasonable price wise.....

I don't know how you define "reasonable" but I would talk to John @ StoneAge Custom Cabs

StageCraft makes excellent cabs at good prices. The Mojotone Select cabs are also excellent.

I had some quality issues with StageCraft, and they were not very responsive when I contacted them about my issues. I would not recommend them. I use 2 x 12 Mesa Rec cabs, and they sound massive. The oversized Bogner are cool as well.

Yup. You can order them unloaded. I have 2 of them and LOVE them. Chunky for days.

What were your quality issues? I ordered two custom cabs a year ago and they were priced much less than other builders and when they showed up they were flawless. Just gorgeous work.

I have 5 diezel rear load 2x12s..very tight sounding..however if you want even tighter with no "sound leak" out the back end,the diezel front load 2x12 is killer. As said, Bogner makes a nice 2x12 cab also.

This. The one I played loaded with Creambacks sounded amazing!

I loved my VHT Fatbottom 2x12s and regret selling them. I've been looking for a used one (or two ) for a while now. For me they were great with the low end of my 7 string.

My old Voodoo Amps oversized 2x12 sounded very similar to the Bogner oversized cab. They were both great cabs.

Whitebox/Jet City sell unloaded 2x12 cabs for $300. Love mine. Excellent build quality, better than Avatar for sure.

Pretty simple...during the building stage they wrote the model of the head/cab on the wood. It eventually bled through the orange tolex... nice, big, sharpie hand written words...After the amp builder intervened, Stagecraft sent out some tolex so I could repair it myself (I don't have this skill) and it was the wrong color. They then proceeded to ignore me.

I ordered an Avatar 212 cab unloaded about 12 or 13 years ago, and its still my #1 cab. I think I paid $120 for it brand new. Can't beat it for the money. Not sure what they go for now. Mine was carpeted with metal grill on front, but I eventually recovered it in tolex and added a cloth grill.
