I saw this earlier. Interesting. I prefer 25.5” scale. I always feel cramped on shorter scaled guitars. This intrigues me. I know many may say it strays too far from tradition but some will love it.

I used to use that cramped excuse about Gibsons when I was a strat player. It sounded like a damn good excuse at the time but that's because excuses always sound best to the person making them.

*Predicts Fender will sue Gibson -
IDK if i could get my hand around my chunky 68 RI LPC neck if it were 25.5"
I say let Fender be Fender & Gibson be Gibson.

Think they did a long scale version of the LP back in 2014 as well.

I’ve owned Gibsons and Prs before. I’ve given shorter scale guitars a chance. I make long and short scale guitars sound like crap but i do feel best on longer scale 🤣

Need to find my closest PLAY AUTHENTIC Gibson dealer and see if they have one...hmmmm

@SgtThump what do you think about these LP's? I wonder who would have one around here

I’d love to try one out.

Also, remember, longer scale = higher tension. You think Gibsons had trouble snapping heads off before? Just you wait. I’d still love to try one though.

Anybody know if they’re also doing Fender nut width of 1.650 or are they the sticking to the Gibson standard of 1.695?

I love my PRS Singlecuts which I believe are 25” scale. Swapping back to my LP does feel a little cramped.

That is a damn good point. I wonder how they address that. Great points!!!

The lightest one at Sweetwater is 10lbs, and that's with 9 hole weight relief. Gibson really needs to find some "mahogany" that isn't ultra-dense mystery sapwood.

Gibson has always done long scales - L5s and Super 400s were always 25.5. Not offering it at least as an option on the flagship solidbody seems like an odd choice.

Probably by suggesting people don't use their guitar as a club, prybar, or cricket bat.

I think it’s fair to say Gibsons get their heads snapped off at pretty disproportionately high rates compared to other guitars. Can’t be that everybody who’s rough on their guitars all happen to play Gibsons. :D

It's not as strong as maple, but the same can be said of for example hollowbodies vs. solidbodies. That doesn't mean that they break themselves, just that if you smash it over someone's head the guitar may lose depending on the head.

It's the tilt back headstock design.
You knock over a strat or a tele, and a whole bunch of shit hits the floor before the headstock touches anything.
Knock over a gibson, and that fukking headstock is the first point of contact every single time.
