2x12 Cabs don’t get enough credit

I've had 2 G-Flex's. Killer cabs! One of the best rigs I've had paired with a Laney GH50L, and a Triple XXX.
The G-Flex is as close as anyone is ever gonna get to a 2x12 sounding like a 4x12. I've said this before, probably in this thread but the heaviest tone I ever recorded was with a G-Flex where we miced the speakers and one of the ports, a Peavey 5150 4x12 and the JSX.

What I didn't like about the G-Flex was the handle placement, I would have preferred one single handle dead center top or your standard inset side handles. And of course most of us changed the speakers even though the stock Emi's weren't bad. Wish I had kept mine.

When I had one long ago, I was an apartment dweller so never got to crank it up

My k100 loaded Whitebox modern 212 has been with me 18 years. Awesome by itself but paired with a 412 and two isp subs...ooolala

so pissed, I missed out on a Vader 2x12 that was local to me. Turns out I even work with the guy, and have mtb with him. :aww:

Those cabs are badass.
I know man, it still hurts. The wound is fresh. I would have gave him more than he was asking if I knew who it was. :aww:

Edit: He's one of those ironman decathlon guys that are ridiculous, but super nice guys. I had no idea he even played guitar.

People talk some smack about my old ADA 2x12s, but I flippin love them. It's all I have used since 2011, and they were over 20 years old when I purchased them.

Yeah they look dated. And are a pain in the butt to change the speakers, especially with the original metal grills. But I just love them.

Most love over sized cabs, I get it. But these are a bit under sized, and seem to me, more focused in the usable frequencies.

Love 4x12s too, but I got (4) 2x12s for $450, that's a win for me.

I found two of these and use them all the time. There are 2 more, straight cabs, in NW corner of Ohio right now that are only available for pickup (fuck that) and he wants 600. My guess is they could be had for 400. Idk. Me want for no other reason than they exist. Love the ADA cabs. Incredible sounding

2 still in stock form. With original drivers, which get shit on, but are amazing, to me.

One I wired in stereo, and another I put eminence swamp thangs into.

Oddly enough, the cab I keep going back to is the all original one. Can't seem to leave it.

I got so lucky when I found these.

I have 2 slanty OGs I use it for center W/D/W. With 2 GK theiles which sounds incredible. The wet part just a Lex plate reverb-minimal settings. The older I get the less modulation I want.

Generally, as far as modulation, I use a slow slight vibrato on one side of a w/d set up, generally always on. Then a univibe for the occasional lead ...slow and throbbing. That's it.

All comes from same pedal or model of a univibe. Just switching modes from vibrato to chorus and back. Kind of a neat always on thing, most of the time.

I do like my delays and verbs though.

But as I am mainly a rhythm player, I gotta to have it tight. 🤣

I sense repression expression here. Can you thrust your pelvis in time with the univibe ? 😏

I'm using a KSR 2x12HW and for my use case it works quite well. I need to get another 2x12 in the next couple weeks and I'm thinking about a Marshall 1936. I had a 1936v a few years ago and loved it.

I just sold my KSR 412 and I regret selling it but I wasn't using it enough to justify keeping it.

I think 2x12 gets a fair shake. Their generally liked. They generally seem to cost more new or used. And get shit on less and less.

Personally I just can't go back to 4x12. Even with the lightest speakers their heavy. If I want to switch speakers it's a pain.

2x12. Have a few of them. Each with different pair of speakers. Mix my v30 and creamback cab. Changed my mind. Plug in my dv77 cab for a whole different sound. Simple as switching the wire. I like that flexibility.

GM70's I assume? I had them in a 2x12 Gallien Krueger cab one time and got on fine with them.

From my understanding they are for undersized cabs and were designed just for these. I could be wrong. Been a minute since I researched these.

Most don't like them, and say they are cheap. I just think, especially after using a few different drivers in these, they work great in these cabs.

But I'm not a gear snob at all, and can find good tones in many unorthodox ways, with gear most hate. 🤣🤣

Gotcha, never played through those.
