5150 DIY mods/upgrades/spare parts thread.

i have two block logo 5150's

one has the bias mod.

one does not.

both are loaded with same pre and power tubes.

they both sound pretty damn near identical to me!

in fact 9 out 10 times, i think that i may actually prefer the distortion sound of the un modded head better.

i guess that i must like cross over distortion!

crazy. first i have heard that they are the same side by side. interesting. my modded one sounds COMPLETY different from other 5150's

i think one even with the same tubes!

(but they are old amps, and everyone i hear if different to some degree)

The best upgrade is to sell it and get a 6534+. MUCH better amp with the same general tone.
