5150 amps sound best with matching 4x12 cabs. I know there's an army of people who claim it sounds better with a Marshall cab. To me the Marshall cab sounds like there is a blanket over it. Yes the 5150 cab is a little more trebly. But it's also clearer. Not as muffled sounding. I assume you'll use whatever cab you've got. Just wanted to add my 2 cents about cabs and speakers.
Interesting, I bought a 5150 sig a while back, and had to buy the 5150 cab with it. I played through the 5150 cab, my Diezel FL cab, and Mesa traditional cab. I found the exact opposite. 5150 cab lacked top end treble, like it had a blanket covering in comparison to the other two cabs.

Yeah the Peavey 5150 cab has always been my last choice in cabs. I liked the Recto traditional 412 w/V30s best and the Marshall 1960 w/T75s second best.
It always felt like the Peavey cab was filled with wet phone books to me.
