In a way I agree with '70strathead. There are some releases post '85 that I do like, but my favorite era of hard rock and metal is early, early 80's

For Yngwie's Odyssey and Mindcrime, 1988 was a very good year.....

that's right after ym's wreck, and his tone was way bright and hashy compared to his older stuff.

i do have 4 track demos laying around of that album though, prior to his crash, with my friend mark weitz singing and it was a totally different deal. mark should have been the signer instead of JLT. he sang for odin and americade and zachman's band third stone, back in the 80s club heyday. he sounded like coverdale, dio, soto, and ray gillan all wrapped up into one!

I would agree with you regarding YJM's tone and playing on the album (showing my age there), but I really loved the songs, and I've always been a fan of JLT. That album brings back alot of good memories from the summer of 88....

81 and 82 were pretty strong but check out 1983...

Thats just to name a few...not even including non hard rock albums by Billy Idol, Journey, ZZTop, U2, SRV, Yes, Prince etc...

Hell of a year...but most importantly for guitar and hard rock...everything was fresh and hadn't been formalized and categorized to death. I mean at that point you could rock out to Quiet Riot and Billy Idol and think nothing about it.

Hi Mentoneman. I know that this is a really old discussion, but I am a big fan of Mark Weitz, but I don't know albums with him on vocals other than:
Americade,
Eyes,
Philip Wolfe,
Josh Ramos.

Do you know other album with him on vocals and please, if you can, share the 4 track demo of him with Malmsteen, thanks.
