Here's something I've been wanting to do for a while now, compare a bunxh of amps with my 9-string to see which amps can handle an instrument with such an extended range. Obviously we have all the high notes and regular notes but also those super low C#-string and low F#-string notes. So this was pretty interesting! The guitar is my Schecter Damien Platinum 9 9-string so 30 inch scale, EMG909 pickups etc. Amazing guitar! These are the amps:

- ENGL Fireball 100
- Victory Super Kraken VX100
- BluGuitar Amp1 Iridium
- EVH 5150III 50W EL34
- Mesa Boogie Mark V 35
- Marshall JVM410H

I would be curious to know which amps you guys prefer here and why. Here it is, I hope you also find this interesting:

Great demo, as always. In the like for like IR comparison, I preferred the Engl and the EVH. The Mesa was the only one I didn't care for.

I prefer hearing the low notes coming from the bass player! It's bad enough bassists have been fighting the left hand of the keyboard player for generations, now you guys are strapping bass strings to your guitars! Why not just play a bass? Seriously. Run a bass through a Darkglass alongside a normal guitar. It's more better.

For this demo - Engl. Next would be the JVM but the settings need to be dialed in a little better on that amp, little more Pres and Res and I would bump the gain up a notch. Next the EVH.

Didnt know you where aboard member. I enjoy your videos a lot!
I was suprised that the JVM handled it that good!
Engl is Engl so i already knew what to expect.

Im a 10+ year Herbert owner.
Im a 8 string player and have tried some pickups, th emg 808 i still preffer over the others.

Ill be buying a Mesa MV and a Fender Princeton hand wired
Im spending more time on my clean channel and enjoying low gain tones more as i get older lol

Do you have any clips where you use a 8 string on the Mark 35? Mostly clean and low gain?

Thanks,
Robert

In an actual mix, the low end is coming from the bass player. 8-9 string guitars and bass are not even remotely close to the same thing.
