The amp is going to be a complete joke. I'll save the punchline for when it's finished. If you know, don't spoil it!

I'm trying to decide on what guts it should have. After all, it's gotta rip, right? For a 2 channel circuit with dedicated clean and a high gain channels, which would be better? The José Marshall circuit or the Soldano SLO 100 circuit?

I use the clean channel. Usually with a phaser, but sometimes without.

It was a joke, but yeah, I get it. I don't know. For me, the heart of the SLO is the crunch channel but I don't really like the OD for anything except leads. I don't know if I'd want that with a dedicated clean. I don't know that I've ever played anything with the Jose mod.

I think the clean on a SLO is pretty nice. If someone could take the characteristics of the Crunch and add more gain, it'd be sweet. The OD is too compressed after about halfway gain wise, so leads are pretty much it.

I played a SLO once in GC and wasn't super impressed, but I had to take it with a grain of salt given that I didn't really open it up. I'm leaning towards the Marshall.

My SLO is my favorite amp with a loop, but I prefer the crunch channel between 9-11.

I play it with a splitter with one of my plexis and I put the delay on the slo / keep the plexi dry for a wet dry set up.

Cleans are from rolling the volume knob down.

Agreed the SLO clean is very nice. However, it's very reactive to pickups and sounds best with low output pickups. I like it with a strat. I don't like it as much with any of the mid-high output humbuckers I normally run. Those do better with it crunchy and rolling off the gain.

The crunch channel has plenty of gain at volume for most things I'd do and with a little juice from a pedal to hit the input hard and tighten it up sounds really good for anything heavier. (It might not be my first choice of amp for heavy rhythm with a boost, but it does work excellent for it.) I find that getting the gain all the way up starts to get just a little hairy and loose for me on the crunch. I'm not sure how well even more would work on it. Maybe the SLO inspired preamps have more?

The OD is compressed and loose in the low end. It's wonderful for leads but most rhythm I prefer crunch and a boost. That also allows me to balance the two volumes for live play which doesn't work as well when trying to use the same channel for both heavy rhythms and leads. I really haven't found any amp that does that well.

I should mention that my rig right now is a Mesa Mark V and a Mesa Stiletto in stereo. I blew the fuse in the Stiletto before practice the other week, so the Verellen Skyhammer took its place. I will be using this in stereo with the Mark V for my rig. I use an FX8 to switch channels and run stereo effects through both.

Which would be best in stereo with a Mark V?

This. I also played one once in GC and felt a bit underwhelmed given the price tag.

Owned 2 slo 30's and 3 100's. The Friedman Jose slays it.
Literally shipped sold and shipped off my last slo 30. Too much low mids and sizzle that cannot be dialed out. The Jose by Friedman is absolute perfection!!
I would not trust a modified Marshall Jose, no idea what kind of funky parts or added mods along the way from any swinging soldering iron Lol! :p

Stiletto was an amazing amp! After I sold mine I went ot see a VH tribute band and went up to see how the guy got his killer tone and yup, a Stiletto!

Stilettos are great amps when you crank the channel volume (I use the FX control as a master volume control)

What was that dude that had the amp with a cupholder and fire concerns? That needs to be in here somewhere
