GPDI/IR owners — how close does it get to SLO and early Marshall tones?

Thanks, this helps a lot. I never had a Marshall. What I do have is the Kingsley Constable (JTM) + Hatchet running thru PS100.

I was trying to find a solution that would give me both early Marshall and some flavour of Soldano-ish high gain but I believe this does not exist today. I was tempted that Fryette GPDIR/IR could come close with some compromise.

I believe now the only solution would be to get a SC20H and a Soldano Astro to have both worlds.
I gigged for many years with my modded 69 Marshall plexi. Eventually got it where I liked it, but still not 100% what I was looking for…the 5150 came out and I got one and used it for 7-8 years. Then found the VHT Pitbull and used it for 7-8 years. The Fryette / VHT sound and feel is more its own thing. Very big sounding.
The little Marshall heads are kinda cool, buddy has the nmv model. I have had better luck finding an amp that excels at one thing vs kinda doing ok at multiple things. But this is my experience, others may be different.

Early Marshalls are much softer in the attack, well Marshalls in general are. The attack in the Fryette stuff to me is more bold and round. The video to me sounds like a guy playing VH thru a Fryette. Sounds better than VH thru a Marshall 😁
You can hear exactly that when you switch from deliverance to pittbull on the gpdiir. The differences are subtle, especially if you are using more gain, but the dv is a little softer on the attack and the pb is immediate and percussive. I have a pittbull 50cl head and it thumps on quick palm mutes with a stiff suspension speaker.
