I didn't engineer this one. The guy that did is I believe, mostly a DM type guy and wanted a wall of guitars, which is different than what I would have done because I prefer more distinct tones, so to speak. Long story but there were two guitar tracking sessions and they were handled differently. In the first session the other player (Scott) used a VH4 and a Triple Rectifier and I played through the Deliverance 60 and VH4. Both amps were boosted too. The second session where we really only recorded the 3 new tunes Scott played through an UL and I played through the D60, both boosted. I liked the tones from the second session better, plus the simpler approach is more my style. The engineer also did some things taking impulses and adding even more tracks.
While I do think the rhythm guitars sound good and FAT, I also think they're fairly indistinct as far as being able to identify any given amp. But it's all a matter of taste because they do sound good.
