A record low level of Americans drink, and a majority now say alcohol is bad for your health

Clearly I don't disagree with it. I simply said it depends on the person and how much time elapses after a beer ( or two) as to whether or not someone is impaired. I barely drink and I don't drive after, but I would definitely be opposed to a "Zero tolerance" type law for drinking and driving. Most people can drink a beer and then drive just fine.

By the way, drunk driving is 5th down on the list of what causes the most accidents. Number one, as you would expect, is "Distracted driving", i.e. texting and driving.

I would be opposed to a zero tolerance law as well.

Ok here is my first post.

“I’m glad to see drinking numbers down. Too many boneheads that think it’s cool to drive home after having a few. Selfish pricks”

Now you try again and tell me that my post wasn’t about drinking and driving…. lol fucking dope
Yep. I had a cousin who was killed in the late 80s by a drunk driver. He was cool as hell and got me into metal. Fuck drunk drivers.

I lost a few good friends in highschool to drunk driving (and several more since)
It’s kind of what happens when you live in a mountain town, house parties are usually down the longest windiest roads.

I was the dedicated DD for a long time but I just don’t like being around drunk people. Probably why this place is so annoying to me after 5pm lol

Nothing wrong with drinking imho. Just gotta be smart about it, like anything else.
Some people are just bad drunks, though. My mother is like that. 2 light beers and she wants to fight the world.
I had a friend growing up that would black out and get arrested every damn time.

As a retired nurse, I’ve gotten to witness the effects of long term alcoholism. I’ve had my struggles too, so I’m not shaming. Alcohol is one of two commonly abused substances that will a person during detox.
Alcohol is poison. ☠️ FACT. It’s nasty. Refined Sugar is poison as well.

There are parties out here and it's dark and twisty. Even sober if you don't know the road you can wreck out. We've had numerous people t-bone phone poles and get killed on dead man's curve. It wasn't a super sharp curve but it was uphill/downhill and had stutter bumps that would wreck you out even going the speed limit.

And again, it's NOT against the law to consume alcohol and operate a vehicle. You're purposely being vague by saying "a few" soley for the purpose of argument because your a piece of shit troll.
Who's the dope? Bitch please.

I have enjoyed alcohol my entire adult life. Mixed drink on a Saturday watching a game, 1 - 2 glasses of vino in the evening. Cannot remember the last time I was legally or clinically intoxicated. But sometime in the last year, my reaction to alcohol changed significantly. Just one glass of wine makes it difficult for me to watch TV without faint double vision on the screen. And I will wake up in the middle of the night and it is nearly impossible to fall back asleep. If I skip the alcohol, I sleep straight through the night. I have tested this on enough different evenings that I know its the alcohol. Fortunately for me, it was relatively easy to just go straight cold turkey. And I feel so much better. Hidden gem is after about 30 days with zero alcohol, I dropped about 4 lbs without trying - likely most of it was just water retention from the excess sugar, but at my age, I'll take it.

Truth - come fall when the temps drop and it gets dark early in the evening, I am going to miss that big glass of heavy red wine to wind down after work. But all I will need to do is spend one night tossing and turning from 11:00 - 3:00 a.m. and I will probably decide it just wasn't worth it.

It’s sucks you can’t enjoy it but it’s also good to realize the negative effects alcohol can have.
I say this as I’m smoking a cigarette, so I’m not preaching, but imo the most dangerous thing about alcohol is the attitude that “eh if I don’t do it too much it’s fine”. People ignore that it is not good for them.

People eat junk food knowing is bad for them. I smoke cigarettes knowing they are bad for me. But so many people drink alcohol and convince themselves that it’s not bad for them. As long as they don’t drink too much to stop being a productive member of society, they think there is no harm in it.
I’m not saying don’t drink, I’m just saying dont ignore the harm
