Hey that's cool, around 50% are there.

My two cents...I've been there for years now. I'm glad as I've blown too much money over the years. I think you just eventually need to really know what you're after, which may take a lot of trial and error (or may not).

1 - guitar and pickups (the pickups in my Wolfgang are a-OK with me, I like how they are hot and push the amp...plus I dig fat single coils and P90's...thin sounding pickups are right out)

2 - amp tone (I'm mid gain for sure...high gain has never felt right and has never sounded open enough to me, but I like enough gain so I'm not fighting the amp either, I use my volume knob a lot so the amp cleaning up well is a must...Peters Polaris is my King Of The Amps, I could sell all of my amps except for that one if I had to)

3 - speaker/cab (this is more important than most men think (I dig MC90's in combos and greenbacks and H30's in 4x12 cabs)

4 - boosts, effects and such are just sprinkles to me, a delightful topping that keeps changing from time to time, probably always will with me.

I now consider myself to be "done", not because I have everything that I could ever want, but because I have achieved one, ultimate, perfect tone. That is to say, my 5150 and Recto cab tone is solid, micromanaged, tweaked, and finished. My guitars are modded to perfection and so is my pedalboard, and my cables are all very high quality wide frequency response non-coloring type cable (more important than you might think). If the day comes (and it will) when I want a Marshall tone, Recto tone, etc. I will chase that and have to seek it out as well. But this tone quest is done. Not sure if this is coming across the correct way, but it makes sense to me.

I voted "done" but I may end up changing my mind. I am sorta still in the honeymoon stage of my relationship with my VH4. However, I've been in that stage with many many amps in the past. I am almost certain that this is the ONE!

Of course I didn't ever mean to own a VH4. I bought one locally off of craigs in order to flip it for a little bit of profit. But it just blew me away. Especially surprisingly after not being too impressed with the Herbert.

Although my tastes/particulars are a little different, I fully agree with this.

My favorite amp right now didn't actually blow me away at first. I really liked it, but I wasn't thinking OMG!!!...not until I found the right guitar, speaker and pedals to go with it...then it was WOW!

Done on the heavy side with my diezel's,but trying to find the ultimate modded marshall tones with the 2 jmps I just picked

I'm done - when I got my 1st non-master volume amp I knew that was it. But I've got my Egnater Seminar amp that I've modded to sound/feel about the same as those. Played around with different boost pedals for a while and finally got that totally nailed down to what I want. Duncan Distortion pickup in the bridge of everyguitar and I'm done (don't use neck pu really). I got 2 cabs that sound pretty different, but I like both of them - so I think that does it for me :)

Been done for a while actually. Although a Tele and a Fender VibroKing is on my list.
Oh ya...I've heard your strats and Marshalls...you're done. Right up your alley with your playing style.

In the last 4+ years Ive had about 40 to 45 amps. I blame 38 on Rig Talk   I never did get a CCV and while I'm still curious I love the sound I have with my amp right now that I'm finally happy! I have a few guitars that I want to try but I cant do much for a while and I really think that's a good thing.

I'm in denial. For the longest time I've been looking for the amp that I can plug straight into (maybe have some effects in the loop) and be good to go. VERY anti-pedal. Then I played a gig with my Hughes & Kettner TriAmp MK II on the 2B channel with a Tube Screamer in front through a Marshall 4 x 12 with H30s and WOW! Since then I've been doing the circuit of Splawn, Diezel, etc. but the truth is that mid-gain sound boosted with the TS is AWESOME. Since then I've been putting together custom switching racks to have EVERYTHING controlled via MIDI. However, now, in a different band the Splawn QR is emerging as the front-runner, although I have a potential speaker incompatibility.

Guess I'm not done, but I know I can always go back to the H&K + TS and sound great...
