I don't feel like schlepping around a 2x12 AC-30 and I can't find a 1x12 near me. I'm looking for a grab and go combo for mid gain tones. I just was wondering if the AC-15 will be loud enough to hear over a drummer. Anyone here have experience with this amp?

Probably, depending how hard hitting the drummer is. What's the budget?

small venues...yep. Don't count on pristine clean tho, expect some grit...not a bad thing:)

Which ac15 are you talking about? The different models will vary in volume. I will say with my vox ac15tbx I used to have it was fine most of the time, but got buried a few times. If you mic it up you should be fine. I find that strange as it sounds band practice is typically louder than gigging, so it's at band practice that I have struggled the most with small amps.

Around $1,500.00
The contenders are as follows...

Budda SuperDrive 30
65 Amps Ventura
Orange OR-15 ( with a 1x12 cab )
Fender Deluxe Reverb
Vox AC15 ( or AC30 if I can find a 1x12 )
Mesa Electra Dyne

Have you considered the Mesa ta15. Its got some voxy tones inside and has 3 power levels, 5w, 15w, and 25w. I was really impressed with the one my buddy had.

If you want light I would mark the Mesa elctradyne off the list, those combos are pretty darn heavy. I also used to have a vox ac30cc1 112 combo, that thing was awkward to carry and not much lighter than the 212.

15 Watts can be pretty loud.

I have a Vox AC15 Heritage Handwired that I might be considering selling. PM me if you would like more info about it.

I had a wide body E.D. previously. I was thinking for some reason that the normal size might be lighter.
I'm checking out a T.A. tomorrow that Guitar Center has marked way down because, as you know, they are no longer carrying Mesa.

Of the options you list the Budda Superdrive is terrific, and plenty loud.
