if it has no programs stored and any programs i save are deleted during power down, is it the battery inside?

Yep,The battery I think is only supposed to last five years. Give or take five years. I thought this was only for the L.E.D's. Not sure. I used to own a few of these and I believe that is what the manual stated. I am sure some one on here will know the answer for sure. There are still a lot of players that still use the ADA preamp.

A friend's old Midiverb or similar rack unit was doing the same thing, and replacing the battery fixed it.

Yes, it's the battery. I've had my units do this before as well!

I've had mine since '87/'88 and never experienced that...and I've never changed the battery.

This may be a silly question but, how do I change the battery on the MP1? The battery seems to be soldered.

prob solved. someone put a regular battery holder in here. no soldering needed. battery fixed prob.
I brought the amp to Gerry G , Georrge Lynch's tech at Sam Ash Westminster. He loved it. We played it loud for hours. it sounds really good. especially when ran into the returns of two tube amps.

Baron,

Thanks for the help! I also got an answer from MarshallJMP.
I wasn't sure if I had to desolder the battery from the "legs" that hold the battery or the whole thing altogether from the board. Turns out to be that is the latter option.

I've had the same mod done to an old Korg Polysix (battery holder)
The batteries in these things tend to go bad, leak and mess up the board; good thing it's only an exception
