Congratz!!

Quite unique in the world of Lester style axes

I just got finished playing it through my house rig (titan custom 100, and a 2x12 Randall with one v30 and gt75 I think) and it sounds better and plays better than anything I have by a long shot. It sounds huge on the gain channel and very warm on the neck for clean tones. Of course I'm still on the honeymoon phase so take that for what you want. This guitar reminds me of a GREAT Les Paul with the playablity of a PRS. The best way to describe the neck is a PRS wide medium if there was such a thing.

Some specifics of the guitar are;

Indian Rosewood neck and board
Solid black Limba body
Stainless frets (probably my favorite part of the guitar so far)
BG hellabucker in the bridge, BG darks in the neck and middle

I think a lot of things went down with Jason after I placed my order and that is why things took so long. He was very open about everything and any time I felt like checking in he was willing to chat on the phone for a good 30 mins every time.

I'm a huge PRS fanboy and I know I could have bought one and sent it to the PTC and got them to refinish it in a custom design but the only way I could get a custom hand made guitar from PRS is go private stock and I wasn't willing to throw down that kinda cash. I got this for less that half of a private stock that I specked out when I was looking.

I will have a better tone report when I get a chance to play this through my main rig. I will also try to take some better pics when I figure out how to attach pics I take to rigtalk.

Sorry if I misspelled a lot of words or didn't form complete sentences. Had a few jack and cokes at dinner tonight. :D

Nice looking guitar.

Sorry man but bullshit shit response unless you know the builder, PRS is a factory of blow them out by the metric ton.

Congrats on the guitar

Bullshit shit? Damn man. Sorry for that. I usually just give a bullshit response. I stepped over the line this time.

Everyone's friendly until you need someone to hold your hair while your trying to wash the chlorine out of your mouth.

Nice guitar man...the important thing is you got the guitar now and Jason was in communication with you the whole time. From those I've heard who have worked with him, he's a good guy and makes some very nice guitars. Congrats.

Congrats!- Looks like a unique design, and from your description - some excellent Korina.

I just hope "O'Bryant" is someone you know well.......

The inlay looks perfect- and if you're getting lots of warmth off the neck pickup- IMO that's great, 'cause you can always get "bite "- warmth and great sustain are usually the wood and construction....

If it's already this good now- will be even better after it breaks in.

Too bad you had to track the progress of your Build using the Mayan Calendar- but may be worth the wait for a great Guitar.

Did this shroeder dude grows his own Alder trees and you order one from the seed?

man.. i waited 4 months for my Anderson Drop Top and i thought that was an eternity... no way i could wait that long. you the have patience of a saint. :)

I'd just let this one go.

Jason is a ONE MAN SHOP....and he has a large back log. The guitar was ORDERED 3 years ago...it didnt get started to be built a LONG time after that. Go look at how long the wait times are for true SMALL BUILDERS...this is completely normal....dunno why you guys have to be so harsh on the guy...he was fine with the wait time and I guarantee that Jason and Elizabeth were both completely up front about it anytime he asked how long it was going to take. He literally does everything by hand, from carving the top, all the inlay work, building the output jack...all of it, himself, by hand. All of this takes TIME.

Here is a lesson in time....figure it takes between 80 and 160 hours to build a guitar. Remember Jason has no automated tools doing ANY of the work here, he hand carves the tops and necks by HAND...chisels, sandpaper, and sweat.... Now if it takes 80 hours, that is 2 guitars a month, or 24 a year. SO the minute you have a 24 guitar back log that is 1 year before your guitar EVEN GETS STARTED...and thats if all he is putting in to every guitar is 80 hours...and that EVERY minute of his time is put into making guitars...not answering phones, specing out orders, answering emails, going to NAMM or any other trade shows, etc... I can tell you he puts a LOT m ore time than 80 hours into each build and also spends time on the phone with ALL his customers...yeah its a long wait...and its WORTH it.

On top of that, Jason is also one of the nicest guys I have EVER dealt with. He hangs out on a few of the different forums. When I was having my guitar built by him, during the build process my daughter was having to go in for open heart surgery...out of the blue one day a package shows up at my house....its a giant guitar headstock with my daughters name on it and Jasons entire family had signed the back with well wishes for her, no idea how he found out about it unless one of his other customers and him chatted about it...he is an ABSOLUTE class act. HE has built quite a few guitars for charity, has raffled a few for charity. HE gives luthier classes to young kids interested in learning the trade. He has a great wife and 4 kids now I believe...he is a CLASS ACT!!

If you cant take the wait, then you shouldnt order a custom guitar from a 1 man shop...my totally custom guitar from another builder took 4 years...and yeah it was a hard wait, but the day it got here I totally forgot about any of the wait at all...its a guitar that will go to the grave with me.

Lindsey Buckingham has a few as well as the other guitarist for Fleetwood mac and Tommy Kessler plays them a LOT too..(I havent seen him play a different guitar in years)...he is the guitar player for Blondie and he was the guitar player for Rock of Ages for a long time.

My old Schroeder

And my Daughter with a huge smile the day she got her gift from Jason...quite literally brought tears to my eyes to see her like this...a simple kind act from someone who we should ALL try to be more like..

So there ya have it folks. I thought he was a 1 man operation but didn't wanna talk out of turn of things I didn't know 1st hand.

Great story. The only contact I've had with Schroeder was that I emailed him a finishing question and his wife emailed back right away with a nice response. I would love to order a guitar from him...if they play and sound half as good as they look, it would be a winner.
