After all of my madness I have settled down gear wise.

is it just me, or has there been a recent influx of gear being sold on the forum? :D

I am really happy with my gear right now. Might sell a guitar or two but next quest is to build the man cave out back

I'm not seeing any pigs flying. ;)

BRAD, I want to thank you

after reading your post, I thought about why I started to play guitar, and no it wasn't about collecting amps....my amp was on standby for like 1h, and it never sounded as good. Might have just been my playing, but I had FUN again.

+1 to this.

i discovered that i almost sold a treasure and started jammin on my charvel - never will let it go. its definately inspirational

I don't really know all that many folks on this board and as we speak I'm opening a box of speakers sent to me .I feel like I'm at a GA meeting .(Gearholics anonymous).

On a more serious note I own alot of stuff and started selling it off in the last few months or so for alot of the reasons stated but luckily not my health .I've been on the Egnater forum and think I'm going to concentrate on that setup .That stuff sounds every bit as good as the high on trick pony boutique stuff I own.Another guy on TGP stated , "I need more Mel Bay and Less Ebay " That fits me to a tee ,spending more time buying and selling than practicing and playing .

Good luck to all !!

Thank you, you saved me $600   I was thinking about getting it

glad i could help :D

its great at rhythm work - but the ibanez stomps it in the ground on arp's and smoothness of playing. but the charvel has a much smoother maple neck. the ESP stomps both of them. still though - it has earned its place in my collection

So it has been decided after we sell the gear we are letting go none of us well sell each other gear for the betterment of our family's and playing. :)

Glad to see things work out for you, man. I couldn't afford to let myself go to that extent atm, but I totally get what you're saying. For the 1.5 year before I set out to get "the" tone, I spent endless hours giving myself a headache and listening to endless clips and reading reviews. 16 amps later, I got the Herbert and ever since have not had one ounce of desire to add anymore to my setup, which I cut in half component wise to just get to the basics. Delay, noise supressor, amp, cab, DONE. Ever since, I haven't been able to focus this much and enjoy playing as much as I do now since I first started learning guitar and didn't even have an ear for tone. It sure feels great.

Congradulations Brad on your eye-opening epiphany.

I remember my father asking me why I needed more then two guitars. He was a musician who put himself through medical school playing with the big swing bands. At the time, I had a Super 400, an ES 355, and a LP Standard. This was back in the late 1960's. I had started playing in 1955.

Throughout the following years up until sometime about last year, I was buying and selling amps, guitars, pedals, all the time trying to finding the tones I loved. I had started playing Diezel amps in 2002 and had owned a VH4, a Herbert, and an Einstein combo. Then it struck me one day that I wasn't using the higher wattage amps as much as I was using the Einstein, so I sold all of my amps but for the Einstein and a Duesentrieb amp, both 50 watters.

I also decided to sell all of my wood guitars and bought myself a carbon fiber guitar, which I really love. I had also sold off all of my effects and decided that I would get just a couple of really good sounding set-ups, so I ordered a Diezel Schmidt and another carbon fiber guitar.

I have owned so many Gibsons, Fenders, and other guitars that I had had it with them.

I bought a TC Nova System, and a small pedalboard to load the few effects I was actually using onto and have got two really fine and simple set ups, which I use all the time.

My tone is much better, much simpler and everything I want from it, I can get.

I realize that my father was right, BUT, I wonder if I would have seen the light day and wised up, if I had not gone through all the gear I went through?!

Well the sell down continues of amp gear.

I have been settling into my main rig and finding all the sounds I need in this much more compact, "gigable" rig. If I cant get what I need out of this rig I need to hang it up.

Still exploring the amp and the tones with the board but so far there is not anything I cant get out of this set up.

I can honestly say this is the first time in about 5 years I am gas free. Not that I dont see a ton of cool stuff on the forums and ebay and while I say wow thats cool I have zero desire to buy it.

Anyway, thanks Pete Thorn and John Suhr for this head.

My Rig Consists of the following:

Suhr CAA PT100 Head (White/Gold)
Suhr CAA 2x12 Cabinet (White/Gold) VIntage 30's

Trailer Trash Glow Top Board with the following on it.

RMC Wizard Wah
Korg Tuner
Xotic BB Preamp
Xotic AC Overdrive
Xotic RC Boost
MI Audio Crunch Box
TREX Roommate Reverb
Eventide ModFactor
Eventide Timefactor
X2 Wireless.

Seriously good thread. I don't know how I'm only just now stumbling upon it. I'm kind of going through a similar thing. My gear flipping days are numbered too. My realization was caused from some unexpected bills and being forced to sell the stuff I don't need. In milling over what was going to go I realized how much time and money I've spent/lost. It really hurts to think about . I did gain an understanding of what I like, but I know I sure could have been smarter about the process and quite possibly not even be in a financial position where I have to sell anything :aww: . I don't think there is anything inherently wrong with gear flipping, but like Brad said the chase/flipping can so easily become the priority and if it does be prepared for a long, expensive ride. I know there has been more than one occasion were I went to my room to jam and work on new material for a while only to waste the whole time reading about new pieces of gear  . I still have some pieces to sell/buy to finish my rig before it's officially over, but it really is a relief knowing the end is in sight
