I don't think I have ever seen anyone do Van Halen better. Maybe not even Eddie. :D

why is it that i can't help but love hearing eddie licks done well???
i love your VH finger vibrato--my vibrato sucks in general and i wish i could do that so spot on

i also love the lead single note chirp on the V as it seems the most PAF of the bunch--what is the pickup??---but it coulda used some eventide micropitch on best of both worlds rhythm and that was the one section where i heard more pedal than cranked brown amp.

the destroyer has that dimarzio distortion edge to my ear ala wacf and the suhr sounded like the best all around eddie crunch/lead guitar

always love hearing you play

DAMN!!!! IMPRESSIVE!! Now everyone is going to get one of these so they can sound like Al!!!

   OMFG - Al - your phrasing and touch are SPOT ON!
Like I commented in your YouTube post - your vid/demo should sell millions of those units!

Killer! Very juicy tone. I see the gain is set at 1:00 - Wonder how it would sound with the gain set lower, like at 9:00?

I'm a huge PT fan and thought that his 5150 OD video is perfect, but Al..... :worship:

One of my favorite guitar videos (which I have downloaded somewhere) is a promo video for a VH tribute band Al played in a while back (maybe 10 years ago now). From what I remember it was a Quickrod with two EV12L speakers in a 4x12 cab. Always look forward to seeing anything with Al Estrada in it! Great job!
Thanks! The Quickrod does the VH thing pretty well! this video actually is using a 1x12 EV12L, been trying to use IR's but haven't recorded anything myself to beat a real speaker yet..

Btw, the 'boost' on the overdrive pedal was 'on' for everything except the 'Hot For Teacher' and 'BOBW' clips, it cuts back on the gain/compression by about 25%, The Ibanez V has a SD '59 but with a Alnico III magnet swapped in it to smooth out some highs, seem to give it more mids as well! The Destroyer has a Mighty Mite 1400, lower output with I believe is a ceramic magnet and the Suhr has a SD '78 or back when I bought it, it was called the 'EVH' :)

The 'best of both worlds' clip did have some micropitch shifting going on, I used a Yamaha GEP50 which has the same presets/parameters as a SPX90, with a little stereo delay as well sort of a W/D/W sound to approximate that 5150 era tone

Wouldn't have been as gainy..Maybe with hotter pickups but these pickups were in the lower output PAF range so I needed to crank up the gain for sustain/compression

sounds great man, was a blast to watch you play all that!

Thanks! Was a blast to play, record and video edit.. :)

As always, thanks for sharing Al.
Just a real treat for all of us!! Beautiful

Been watching Al since he demoed the Quickrod some years back.
Kick ass player he is.

Once again it proves that you can have killer tone for astronomically less than a 3 or 4+k amp.
Another reason I have settled with my 5153 50 watt, because it does what I want it to.

This $200.00 pedal sounds great !!!
