Well, Atleast the best lead tone I’ve ever gotten.

Rhythms are all 5150 with horizon precision drive.
Mesa OS and unidyne 57 for leads and rhythms.

morin JMP 2203 boosted with peppers dirty tree.

probably my favorite mix I’ve done, and by far my favorite lead tone, hope you guys dig it!

That sounds really good. Thick but clear and that lead tone has a nice almost horn-like quality.

Brutally crunchy! Me likey.
The Herbert is my favorite Cortex Diezel at the moment, model or capture.
Ever tried the plug-in? One of the best imo.

Thanks man. Yea I’ve messed with it a bit, I think it sounds insanely great for what it is. I’m not a huge fan of the IR section, but obviously you can use your own. I hate to use the term “3D” but to me that’s the biggest difference between real amps and amp sims when recording these days. The amp sims get the sound right no doubt a lot of the times, even the feel. But when you start layering real amps, they just pop out like you are wearing 3D glasses: that’s the big difference to me. Is it huge? Eh that’s debatable, I’m not going to sit here and say I could pick out an amp sim over a real amp in a mix, but I enjoy the freedom of a real amp when possible, because it’s literally you sculpting your own tones and not someone else’s version of it. The herbert plug is one of the best out there. My favorite sims by far are STL tones,I think they just feel and sound amazing, and I’ll be honest I often struggle to beat the stl tones version when tracking with real Amps initially. The amps always win, but it takes a minute for SURE :)

I’m with you on this.

This gets me really close (especially since I'm not pushing any serious air), and variety is a tap away instead of physically
moving heads around in my cramped space. The Duncan Powerstage is freaking loud so I knock it down by half (10dB).
