Speaking of Gas...The Detroiter is the pup that I really want to put in my LP Studio on recommendations from friends of mine. But I am not a fan of the JB...

I love the mcp detroiter which i have put back in my SG, as its the perfect pickup in that guitar. I love JB's in my les paul studio, and ive heard that the mcp angel dust, AND the garuda are better versions of the jb.....
Can anyone tell me how these two are alike different?? Would love to experiment with different versions of the one pickup that seems to keep coming back in my life.

Can't go wrong with a Detroiter set in a LP. Punchy as hell, yet produces beautiful clean tones.

The detroiter is awesome. Seems to have more output than it says it does. I would put it in my les paul, but it adds just the right amount of ass to my SG. Nothing else has sounded that good in that guitar. I want to try something different from mcp now, and since i have a jb in there now, figured i would get something with that kind of output.
Thanks for the info Wade; sounds like the garuda is what im after. Can you order them now??

No Problem. Sure. I don't have the official page up yet, but I can get you going. The Detroiter is a chameleon considering the amount of raw punch it has. The last 2 Overkill albums were recorded exclusively with them, and is a head scratcher sometimes because it does so many other things extremely well too, I often think it gets underplayed somewhat as a lone wolf metal head. Send me an e-mail with your details/woods/etc and I'll get you straitened out and we will go over a few other things. I really personally like the Garuda's in les pauls a hell of a lot, and was pretty shocked when I proto'd them in some strats with and without Floyds also. Very very rounded mouthpiece : 0
Peace,

I emailed you Wade. It sounds like the garuda would be a good match for my les paul, while theyre known for being chunky guitars, mines fairly bright!

Yes, got it!. Your absolutely right. This model is going to do extremely well. I just got a few more reviews in and its money!!
I'm really stoked to get this one out there!!

The Garuda is definitely money! I got mine recently & wired it in, and i love it. It still has the airiness to the low end that the JB has, but they are more present and put together. The low end is also a little tighter & hits harder. Keeping with the JB theme, the high mids are still there, but just not as strident & piercing. It has a good balance of being hot, but still remaining open. Notes really pop nicely too. And it's a pretty mean sounding mofo.

I agree!!   I love the Garuda!!!   It is very close to the JB but does not have that annoying ear piercing mid-spike or the loose bottom end. It is the best improvment on the JB that I ever heard.

The Angel Dust also smokes!!!

Sounds like the garuda is my next pup for sure. Cant wait to try it back to back with the JB

For the people who've compared the Angel Dust to the Garuda;

Which one has more pissed off mids? Which one is more snarly, vocal, and growly? I love the Afwayu. I think I want something fairly similar but with a little less bump in the lows and low mids for this one. Thanks.

That would be the Angel Dust A5!!! I had the Afwayu (underwound) in one of my guitars and went with the Angel Dust for the same reason. Very pissed off souding compared to the Garuda.

Fuuuuuuu. I like pissed off mids lol. Gas, thou art evil! One of the reasons i like the jb is the mids, but theres a shriek in the upper end i always try to dial out.
Which one would be better in your opinion for leads and single note lines?

That is tough one since they are both great for single notes. The Angel Dust is more growly, snarly, vocal pissed off than the Garuda and the JB. The AD has slightly lower output than both and it take more work to where you have to dig in compared to the higher output Garuda. No shriek in the upper mids for either the AD or the Garuda. You can't go wrong with either the AD or the Garuda IMO, but if you want a more pissed off sound (growly, snarly, whatever) then the AD is it IMO. The Garuda is not mellow either; just not as pissed off sounding as the AD. Read Wade's description of the type of wire used which helps describe the differences like the Garuda being more silky and the Angel Dust being more dry.
