I'm surprised the amp retains so much crunch, grind and high end details without becoming a overly compressed mess with 5 gains stages, it still has Marshall attributes and not Mesa Boogie. It also sound harmonically rich, you can hear the harmonic feedback swelling under the closed notes and chords.:inlove:

Whats speakers are we hearing? Sorry if you already mentioned that.

You must be dumping quite a bit of gain between stages to arrive at that optimum amount of interstage gain levels and high end attenuation . I didn't think it would take boosts well with 5 gain stages.:unsure:

Very nicely done!:2thumbsup::rock:

I don't know the schematic or values but you can tell from the pics that there is a lot of careful gain and high end dumping going on along the way. It also doesn't sound overly midrange-focused which can happen when trying to cut bass for tight and cut highs so it's not too fizzy/harsh/unstable. Impressive.

I believe the speakers are G12M-25s. Ted said they were vintage Creambacks.

And yeah, I really like how the amp responds to a boost. Of course you gotta turn the gain down and re-EQ the amp though.

My own personal preference, if doing 5 stages my way, would be to bias each stage a little cooler, that way you don't have to dump as much gain between them. Or... well might as well just stick to 4 stages and then you don't need to dump as much in the first place. But then you don't get as much compression and saturation. So it just depends what you like. I like more of an aggressive, raw sound. Langner was going for more compression and sizzle.

Yeah, some of that is how Langner decided to do it, but I've also added my own tweaks to get the amp to be more balanced. I really don't like overly bright sounds.

Then my work is done...btw, I had not touched a guitar in 4mo@the time this clip was filmed but the tone speaks volumes and the amp delivers, Racer has yet to know the fury that awaits!!!
Sounds killer Ted! Paul Baloff is cracking a smile...

That San Dimas King V is gnarly!

I liked the unboosted clip better. But I’ve also noticed that when I try to record something, it often sounds better unboosted even if I prefer the sound (and feel) in-person as the person playing, with a boost.

Yeah, all sorts of mind tricks with this shit. I like the chunky lower mids of the Mid Screamer clip, but the clanky attack with the Fortin Grind. Unboosted has more girth all around, but it's a little looser.

That sounds tits! I gotta break my Wilcox out and rip that fucker. Haven’t played it since the day I got it.
