Is it ok to stand the head up on its edge when not using it? The transformers and tubes will of course be subjected to more downward pull standing that way. Do you think it could be a problem? Or should this be avoided. Reason I ask is Im not using my ENGL Savage 120 as much these days and it will take up less space standing up in the closet of my music room until I feel like breaking it out. Thanks

It's fine to do that but, The amp will sound out of balance for a week or two. All the tonez will have settled to that one side of the amp and need time to redistribute evenly across the amp.

  Gotcha.

I wouldn't, transformer mounting brackets have been known to pull and bend on some amps when stored like this.

The ENGL SAVAGE looks pretty solid. I will make sure its not too long term. Thanks for chiming in.

 Can’t say I’ve ever heard of a transformer tipping over, over its own weight.

I find it hard to believe you'd have any problem at all gently setting an amp on end and leaving it that way, even long term.

That said, some amps do have really flimsy tranny brackets and if set on end with any force whatsoever can bend the brackets. I received a used Dmoll where the tranny brackets were bent and the tranny leaned to one side. Huge iron and flimsy brackets=

That usually results from the delivery guy throwing it around.

Agreed.

But honestly given the mass of those trannies in the Dmoll and looking at the thin ass tin that comprised the tranny bracket mounting legs, I'm sure even the delivery guy setting the amp down at the door when he rang the bell would've been enough to cause the tranny to shift.

That is a surprise from diezel. I would have thought that they would be built better.

That asidei would not worry about it for storage. I mean if you drop it on the side, yeah stuff should shift. I would have a hard time imagine that gravity would be stronger than a transformer bracket.

I saw a guy pull an amp out that was stored for a few years standing on it's end and both transformers were sagging. The brackets slowly bent under the weight. The brackets were made of cheap tin metal.

I literally dreamed last night that the transformers on my Splawn tipped over. Random as hell.
