Ampeg VH-140c or Randall?..

I need a cheap ss head.. I was thinking the ampeg or a randall.. Im not sure what randall to get there are so many different models... What sounds better?. It seems there are alot of problems with the ampeg from what Ive read...

RG series Randall's are the shit.

I've never played the Ampeg, but I hear they have problems with breaking down? (Transformers or something like that). I've never played one, but heard them live and they are grindy bastards. Sound good. FYI the band that used them was a Pantera cover band, and they nailed the tone dead on. A monster player with some chops makes this Ampeg VH-140C sound bitchin.

I'd say try the RG if you can...you can usually snag one on e-bay rather easily. I've actually tried to find both heads and I had better luck with finding the RG100/RG80 heads.

i think both would be awesome. i was originally going to get one of these but then i found a randall tube head for cheap that i heard lots of good things about and jumped on that instead.

i would go with the RG personally, because the ampeg seems to be used for scooped sounding tones, and i am a mids guy through and through.
