Ampeg VH140C couple of questions

Pretty impressed with it. Any problem using 2 16 ohm 4x12s?

I've owned three Ampeg VH140Cs of varying conditions, and never had a major problem. If you got two cabs or a stereo cab (hopefully loaded with V30s or K100s) then you're golden. It's the best budget amplifier out there. The only complaint I had was that it has no presence with Vader cabinets, but Eminence Legends sort of suck in general, so it's not the amp's fault.

Both my 4x12 are 16 ohm mono and loaded with V30s. The speaker outputs on the Ampeg say 70 watts RMS @ 8 ohms. So am I getting less power going to my cab since it's 16 ohms? When I did play it at the store, I was going through a used Marshall 4x12 with V30s and it sounded mean.

You wouldn't have full power coming from 8 ohms into 16, but it really shouldn't be a huge drop, and won't damage the amplifier. The VH140C has more than enough juice to power those cabinets, even though it's only 70 solid state watts per channel. That amp growls with Vintage 30s!
