Friedman Dirty Shirley speaker impedance mismatch

Hi, I have seen using my 2014 Dirty Shirley 40 regularly for gigs since I brought it in 2016 and it's always sounded great however on my last gig I inadvertently set the amp to the 8 ohm output position when using the 16 ohm speaker in the cab (it's a combo). I thought it sounded a little different in the low end and no issues as a result.

My question is would there be any issues running the amp with this mismatch in impedance or should I avoid doing this and always make sure the 16 ohm speaker is always connected to the amp set to 16 ohm?

That is safe. I used to do a similar thing. You could even run it at 4 ohm. Just don't go the other way (no 16 ohm selection to an 8 ohm speaker)
