...and the longer you hold onto an amp or even use it for it's intended purpose (actually playing in a band or shows) can diminish the used value even further. Probably why alot of players have roadcases for their amps if they play out.

Because many will pay a premium for road cased/bedroom princess/hardly used/foam strips underneath the amp condition.

I'm sure this is part of the reason why the trend chaser/fad core crowd treat amps as "hot potatoes", because they know as soon as they get an amp a timer goes off in which they have a narrow window in which to dump it for maximum resale value.

+1....although uou missed the part where it's hyped to death on the forums first :-)

Most of the Cameron fanboys moved on to Fortin I see, even though they don't sound the same in clips......I wonder what's next? :D

C'mon guys....its VERY SIMPLE ECONOMICS....supply and demand....its truly that easy. AxeFX and Cameron hold their value...no sheet...try and go buy one...they are both back ordered....up until what...a week ago you couldnt even get a cameron unless you got someone willing to part with theirs. All these boutique builders listed that value is really starting to take a hit...(Bogner, Wizard, Deizel, and the list goes on...) 5 years ago there were a relatively small number of them available...but as the years go by more and more are being built and new builders are popping up as the "Flavor of the Month" so the older amps are no longer as desirable and more are available...so in order to sell your used one you either have to make it more desirable by adding extra's, adding new tubes, or lowering the price in order to flip yours compared to the other 5 - 10 that are available right now by other guys who want to try new stuff.

I mean it really is just supply and demand. If you have something that someone cant readily get then its worth more. That simple. If you are selling something used and I can get it brand spanking new for say 300 - 500 more, then it doesnt make sense to buy used if I can get the warranty and know for fact it hasnt been beat to hell and back.

Take my rack mount SLO....there arent many built, they arent being built anymore, and you probably see what...3 - 5 a year come up for sale total...and most of those arent in what I would call excellent condition....so I could probably sell mine at quite a premium....kinda makes sense, since I am one of only 4 guys that will sell one this year...when buyers outnumber sellers it costs more...duh....

Also, when the model you have is constantly being updated, then the older model usually takes a significant hit!! Look at the XTC...the original 101b...I have seen them go for 1700 - 1800 dollars....compared to the classic which is more, then the 20th which is way more... Look at Splawns...grab an original QuickRod that has no gear knob...man those are like less than half price of what they were new just 5 -6 years ago...that is unless some internet whiz kid suddenly says the older ones are better...then watch out!! they will triple in price!! LOLOLOL

+1 on Axe Fx Ultras, they hold their value like a champ.

Simply because they limit production. So, you can't get them new. Inflates the price of the used ones.

You are right, its just supply and demand for all things in life. There is also a psychological factor in which the Low supply makes the item seem unattainable and more desired. Regardless of how it sounds and how good the amp is, once the market gets flooded then the prices will drop, there is no way around that. And that is the way its supposed to be too...

Oh yes they do, very small differences that maybe the owner can sniff out but the average guy will never know which 100%.

Price will drop as more new ccv are produced. Then some Tag type will claim how much better the pre brad models are when Cameron personally built them. Suddenly you have the next dumble with prices skyrocketing to ridiculous levels.
All about exclusivity and bragging rights.

Depends who is the one that calls that first shot.

If a "Typed Tone" states this the smart ones will not listen.

Smart ones will have played both and decided or known maybe that the new one is more consistent, better parts, how Cameron originally wanted it. Just takes one deciple with the right internet credit maybe a clip and the flock will start to gather.

Enzo Ferrari always wanted to make one less car then he could sell.

Internet credit is a tricky slope......................

And send an application on why you should be able to own one of his cars AND sign you would not let a publication use your car as a test bed.

If you made the guys on the waiting list sign they could not sell for a year you would have to start another thread saying 12 amps available

What if they actually are? Then supply and demand will once again take over. Low original supply and high original demand. Doesnt take a "Tag type" to figure it out.

After all, the original prototype CCV was a mash up of parts. It sounded good enough to be used as a prototype for the new CCV's. So "better parts" is a weak argument...and more about marketing ;)

Not saying one is better than the other. Just saying it could go either way. Personally I haven't played either so couldn't say. But the rarity of the old ones will drive those prices back up even if the new ones sound better or equal. Exclusivity and bragging rights. My prediction and 2cents.
