Andy Borowitz on Sarah Palin, 'gateway idiot who lead to Donald Trump'

There's more than one gateway idiot out there and they don't just make up the republican party either.

True, but she did open the door for the fanatic evangelical wingnuts. They've been a lot more prominent since she came on the scene. Most of my evangelical friends thought she was the greatest thing since sliced bread.

The origin of many governments is a roving group of bandits deciding that life would be easier if they settled down in a particular locale, and simply taxing the residents for a fixed percentage (rather like “protection money”) instead of periodically sweeping through and carrying off all they could get away with. It’s no accident that the ruling classes everywhere have martial backgrounds.

The U.S. government, after all, grew out of an illegal conspiracy to overthrow and replace the existing government.

Royalty are really nothing more than successful marauders who have buried the origins of their wealth in romance.

Throughout history government has served as a vehicle for the organization of hatred and oppression, benefitting no one except those who are ambitious and ruthless enough to gain control of it.

Sociopaths are drawn to the government. They seek power and control over others through coercion, taxation and more.

Sociopaths, aka ruling parasites, are not unique to left, center or right, they permeate the entire political spectrum.

I always thought she was a ditz and a stunt by Mccain to get votes.....Just like what Biden did with Kamala. I thought she was pretty milferiffic though....

I felt like a lot of the excesses of the 60's and 70's basically caused the evangelical movement, which I see as a backlash against liberal social policy and mores.

I agree with that. Cool became avant-garde became “I can out-weird anyone”. There had to be a point where the pendulum started to swing the other way.

Trump worked up to his presidential run for years.
Palin gets zero credit for Trump, that's revisionism. Might as well say McShame did it.
