Who is it for and who buys this shit.....

Are these players still relevant on any level and well who cares no?

IDK i don't ever see a pedal and go "no way Andy Timmons uses this to get his sound"..... Or whichever of these other D-Listers mentioned I mean let's be real here, who is the market for and what market is out there for this garbage :dunno:

The Kealey stuff Andy t uses is killer.
I rarely use a boost, but I went through a few looking for something to thicken up my 50cl. The Keeley AT super mod has an almost hifi quality to it compared to the SD1, smallbox, and BE pedals.

Andy Timmons is a top-notch guitar player with great tone. Super nice guy to boot. I don't see the problem here.

lol Andy Timmons has some of the best tone in the industry and his sig gear can barely be kept in stock. Keeley has reported the Halo and Halo Core are some of the best selling pedals they make. The JHS AT+ sounds awesome for smoother leads and that pedal sells like hotcakes too.

The market for his stuff is huge. What on earth are you talking about.

The Halo is a great sounding delay with clean to mild gain tones. It's supposed to replicate the sound of two Deluxe Memory Mans, one fed into the other.

I was going to buy one but then learned it had digital technology in it. It sounds nice but I haven't had good luck with digital boxes when using gain.

I'm holding out for a dual analog delay from @griff10672 maybe next year.

I can see the “grown man wearing another man’s sports jersey” vibe

Do you think Eric Johnson is a "D-list" guitarist?

Sometimes people just think gear is dope & don’t even associate it with the artist who’s signature model it is. Also if you have a signature model….. well people obviously know ur name 🤣 You did something right. D list is better than not even being on the list Lmao 👀 same could be said for small name builders or suppliers of any gear.. Serious gear whores won’t fuck with & support the lil guys because they feel the same way, but we all know there’s gems out there from the people you’d least expect.

Yeah the number of basically instrumentalists with a Platinum album is not huge.

The Eric Johnson strat was a reasonable way to get a quality strat out of fender at some times when that proved otherwise difficult. Other than that I don't know it serves any particular purpose.

I agree. If the specs are there, who cares? I've owned many signature items and bought them for what they had to offer and how they performed. For the most part, I believe that plays a huge role and why some signature gear doesn't stay on the shelves. They check all the boxes for many, (except high end items bought as investments).

I don’t know how Eric Johnson and Andy Timmons wound up on your list, unless you are just engagement farming. Both are top tier players; guitarist’s guitarists.

Otherwise, I could agree with you on sig models for these YouTube characters. For instance, do that husky beardy guy and that Rabea guy deserve signature models? At that point, it just dilutes the pedigree of what a sig model is.

Some manufacturer just needs to come out with the “your name here Bedroom Player” model.

I can see that with guitars, but with pedals it's not so much "wow this guy is cool I wanna be like him" but more like "wow that sounds good, I want that sound."

Relative to some others yes .....

Yes.

And I mean you can only hear Cliffs of Dover so many times right before you realize this is the case.....

I have wondered the same about Pete Thorn’s sig stuff. No offense to PT but 🤷🏽‍♂️
I have the same question regarding YouTubers with signature gear, at least Pete is an hired and session guitar player and did some good CDs. But what about those who only have a show from their parent's basement. WTF? What have they done? Did they make a few good records? Tunes we can remember? Toured the World?

Seems that influ-liars are the new guitar heroes these days.
