Another Reverb Prick - UPDATE: HERE'S HIS FRIVOLOUS CLAIM!

I agree with what someone else said, maybe take the lump and send a call tag for the amp to be shipped back to you. Yeah, it will cost you $100...but at least you will get your amp back. Plus it shows PayPal that you are actively working to get the amp back and issue a refund. What you want to avoid is this asshole from damaging your amp and or stealing it and making up some other bullshit claim.

I can't remove my bank or cards. The Paypal fuckers have already locked them.
Skip even dealing with PayPal. You have to call your CC directly and report fraud related to PayPal, so they will put a stop pay to anything PayPal related. And physically go to your bank and do the same.

Agreed^ best option (though it sucks that you're basically shipping your amp around)

Yeah because what you're trying to do is exactly what someone committing fraud would try to do. Going and closing your bank accounts ultimately isn't going to help either. When you signed up with paypal you gave them your information. If you take all the money out of the account and they're left on the hook for that $2000 they're not just going to say 'well shucks' and forget it. They'll bring a lawsuit against you to recover their damages.

Sucks that this is happening. I could be wrong but I think reverb will cover return shipping. At least they offered to when I had a problem with a guitar transaction. I was the buyer in that instance so not sure what you as a seller would have to do for that... best option may just be to get the amp back at this point. You could fight the guy on general principle but it may end up costing you more in stress in the end.

No, they won't. I did this exact thing, and other than emails nothing beyond that. But, I never received my amp back, which isn't the case here...yet.
In fact, I just ordered something yesterday using paypal on Reverb..but not with a paypal account. Just paid a paypal invoice.
Maybe it seems fucked up to you and others, but I wasn't about to take it in the shorts for 2K. And I wasn't about to let paypal string me along for 30 fn days on my refund while they 'investigated' it. I don't know what happened to my amp but I never got any resolution from ebay, paypal or UPS.

The bastard still has my amp. I went to the bank but they will only close my account not block the withdrawal. I can't close the account because it's tied to some important things, so I'm fucked. If he keeps my amp or sends it back in shit condition, Paypal will refund him anyway because of the fuckers they are.

What's his username/store name on there?

check to see if he is in a band. maybe he bought it for a gig with no intention of keeping it.

Check to see if he threatened an amp tech and is going to jail ... :checkthisout:

Im asking for a Phrend.

6 days and the bastard still has my amp.

He's probably still waiting on Paypal. Tell him you'll refund his money and ask him to ship it back. Refund happens after the amp is back in your possession. Let Paypal and Reverb know that this is your resolution for the issue.

If he complains about getting the money first, tell him that you're fine with the situation as it currently is (him with an amp, you with money).

You have the guy's information including an address. I'm sure someone here lives in his area and can pick it up for you. I know I would be willing to.

I wouldn't refund him. PayPal shouldn't refund him until he ships it back. If it comes back damaged you can contact PayPal and Reverb but if you refund him you have no one to go to if he sends back a vandalized amp. In the end PP and Reverb might not do anything for you, but at least there's the possibility if you continue with the process.

SavageRiffer: shot you a PM, let me know if you got it. I may know who this guy is and might be able to help.

so, he seems to be claiming (at least to paypal?) that the amp is not functioning correctly?

based on my experience, paypal is going to have him take it to a competent technician to independently verify that claim.

Couldn't PM back to your account for some reason, so sent to email in your sig. Thanks.

That would be a nightmare. Last thing I want is someone poking around inside my amp. I told the bastard to send it back unopened a day before he accepted delivery, but he opened it anyway. He's probably jamming on it right now and laughing that prick.

WHAT'S HIS USERNAME/SHOP on Reverb? I want to make sure I avoid him!

SR: Ok, I have the entire story now. I'm not typing it all out. Call me if you want to know what's up. I'll PM you my number, although it's on the site, and listed in my sig, I think.

Sorry RT members, it's not going to end well for SR. This guy is a complete piece of work, and
I've had to save some people from him on speaker deals gone bad years ago he engineered. I can reference he goes by the name "Royal Brit" or something like that...but he's always pulling shady crap.

Jim
