Any love for the Stephen Chesney/Robert Mason EP

I liked the 3rd song a lot.

Unlike others, my favorite era of Lynch Mob included Robert on vocals.

Your not alone Mason was my preference as well .

he is a great singer , he actually does not a bad job on the new Warrant stuff too , this sounded a lot like that to me ,just because his voice is instantly recognizable

Is this new? I'm a fan of the Robert era LM stuff and love his work with warrant and Big Cock. Definetly gonna check this out

Wow, great stuff. RM is great on whatever gig he's on. I preferred Oni's style on the first Lynch Mob album, but RM nailed it on the 2nd album. I really wish the B sides to the 2nd album were included in the CD release, but I read they were scrapped because of the cheeziness of the song titles.

I forgot he did the 2nd Lynch Mob album, that's why the 1st track reminded me of LM a little bit!

The Ep was released last Monday, it's been in the works for ages. Hopefully they'll do a whole album

I think it sounds good !
I would like to hear more .

I love Mason, guy has great chops STILL which I can't say about Oni anymore. The edge to the first Lynch Mob album but i liked them both equally. This newer stuff sounds really good to me. It is amazing what a strong vocalist can do to a song. He sounds a tad like Bon Jovi on one of the tunes highlighted here but I liked it. Was that Lynch solo'ing on the last featured tune there? Big time sounded like him and his tone from that 2nd Lynch Mob EP. If not, that guy can play and is a perfect compliment to Mason's voice. Production and guitars sounded good too, I think i'll pick this one up.

Not to derail this on to Robert Mason, instead of Stephen Chesney........but Robert Mason also provided most of the vocal work for the Randy Rhoads Remembered show. Just a GREAT singer, in my opinion.

So, I was searching google trying to find a blog that had written a review of the EP and Wow, I saw this thread pop up. Coming across this made me smile, Thanks fellas! :D

Firstly, thanks for all the positive responses to the preview! - Robert by the way IS absolutely unbelievable and his voice is as good as it ever has been. He was one of my favorite singers ever when I was growing up (i'm a major Cry of Love fan) and to be working with him and writing material for/with him makes the big kid in me very happy lol.

To answer a few questions I saw pop up (from Glynchfan1 and Kapo_Polenton) - Yes this is all brand new stuff as Posterboy said - this was just recently FINALLY finished after an annoyingly long haul to get to the finish line! - but hey, crossed it eventually lol. Oh and no, That is definitely not Lynch on the third solo, thats me :). All of the music on this EP is my stuff that i've had for a while and never released - but thats a major compliment if i'm being compared to George, so, thanks for that!

All in all.... I have to say, after it took so long to finally get these songs out it was a bit scary to see if people will dig 'em... so sitting here trawling through Google tonight, you guys made my night lol, thanks again :)

Don't worry , you are well ahead of the current Lynch already so you can only go up from here! We all have a little of the guys that influenced us in our playing. The key is to be tasteful in the application and from what I heard in the teaser, you guys have knocked it out of the park. I checked out some of your other vids on youtube, I really dug the vibe you had going with Mark Boals (another great singer) in that Whitesnake cover. You've got a good ear for singers.. the voice is such a huge part of the 80's sound. The singers today suck for the most part. Pop Punk guys are the ones that bug me most.

Well thankya kindly! :) Funny thing is (referring to the influence part) I was never a Lynch fan, I grew up wanting to replicate the Slash style more than anything, that Lynch-ish solo just sorta happened...and I can say that truly with a straight face, ridiculous as it may sound. I was a Mason fan from Cry of Love, never really listened to a ton of Lynch Mob or Dokken... funny how things happen sometimes!

Thanks for checking out that video by the way! - Funny thing about that cover was it was at a local bar here in LA, none of us had played it together, the drummer in the video of course had played it a ton of times as its Chris Frazier of Steve Vais band (Currently in Foreigner) who was in Whitesnake, so he (and we as a result) had an advantage lol. We just got up and jammed on that tune and that was it. I did Hot for Teacher with Chris afterward, but, Mark and I only did that one tune...still, not bad all things considered! lol.

And I can say this with a straight face.........whether you are a Lynch fan or not, you have more of a Lynch vibe going on than George has these days.

It is sort of funny that you mention the Slash influence, because I was thinking the same thing today after downloading "Lucid Illusions".

Oh, you grabbed Lucid Illusions? Thanks for the support! Yes, that is DEFINITELY a Slash style track, with reason too - I actually did that originally for Seymour Duncan/Guitar World to demo the Seymour Duncan Slash pickups (watch out, cheap video plug coming) which is here:

As for the Lynch comparison, Ha! Man, If only I was as well known as the man himself! haha. I'm shooting a new video for Seymour Duncan tomorrow morning and I snuck in a ton of Cry of Love licks... That is most definitely where I became a Mason fan long before we became friends.

Wow…the playing on that video is tasty! Love it.

Hey H_Squire, Thanks for the kind words! Glad you liked it! :) - That was a nightmare because I did it in one take on camera to the backing track i'd put together and then had to figure out wtf I played so that I could go in and rerecord it on the version I did for iTunes lol.

Glynchfan1 - Good news, YES :). I can't talk much about it right now but there's some awesome stuff in the works, the tracks we've worked on that aren't in the public domain are absolutely killer. Think Cry of Love on steroids and you'll kinda get the idea of where its at.

Hey OUTLAW - One thing I will say, I definitely took inspiration for a horns section (which is NOT synthesized btw, thats the real deal lol) on Devils Daughter from the Tangled In The Web Lynch Mob track. Thats the one Lynch Mob tune I listen to repeatedly and always have.

Oh and not to turn this into a comedic non EP thread but (you'll hear why I find this stuff pretty funny, we do it to amuse ourselves and seeing as Lucid Illusions and the Slash influence came up, humor me a sec...) - I always wondered how close to Guns N' Roses we could get (a good friend of mine and I) so here's something i've been working on at home this week, I don't know that i'll ever let it into public domain...but seriously - we're sitting on a ton of this stuff, complete with fake Live Like a Suicide piped in crowd noise lol!

Click and press play! :D haha

That guy isn't a bad singer either is he! I like your stuff man, def. will follow what you are doing. As for the Slash Alnico II pups demo, I thought yeah, definitely very reminiscent of Slash but there were also enough of your own quick runs in there to make it interesting enough to listen to. It was more "in the style of" rather than a clone. You know like that guy playing in Dokken now? Total clone (as awesome as he is), or the legion of Yngwie clones out there that play the stuff note for note. I personally love Shenker and Norum but I don't try to cop their exact patterns or signature riffs, I just take the elements I like from them like that wide ass vibrato or melodic run. This is how music stays interesting. I love hearing new guys that have their own spin on things and make me want to hear what they have in the tank.

Great news!!! I'll be anxiously waiting for more. And I def thought of tangled in the web when I heard the horns. Great touch!!
