Thanks mate! - Wait til you hear a longer clip of the link I posted today. Hilarious stuff really, he sounds EXACTLY like 1987 Axl as it goes on....its really bizarre. Key is, this guy can also write the melodies and lyrics like him too. Just great fun to record even if we never put it out lol.

That guy isn't a bad singer either is he! I like your stuff man, def. will follow what you are doing. As for the Slash Alnico II pups demo, I thought yeah, definitely very reminiscent of Slash but there were also enough of your own quick runs in there to make it interesting enough to listen to. It was more "in the style of" rather than a clone. You know like that guy playing in Dokken now? Total clone (as awesome as he is), or the legion of Yngwie clones out there that play the stuff note for note. I personally love Shenker and Norum but I don't try to cop their exact patterns or signature riffs, I just take the elements I like from them like that wide ass vibrato or melodic run. This is how music stays interesting. I love hearing new guys that have their own spin on things and make me want to hear what they have in the tank.

Hey again guys,

Sorry to revive a dead thread, but seeing as there'd been some discussion about the Lynch-yness of some of those solos and I myself said I hadn't tried to sound Lynchy on those... here's one where even I realize it came out a bit Lynchy lol.

This is a rough track unmixed so don't judge it too harshly sonically speaking, something i'm working on tonight :)

Lynchy? or now that I think it sounds Lynchy are you gonna tell me it sounds nothing like him? ;)

Totally "Lynchy" in my book. Sounded really good..

So did you record all instruments in one studio and then have Mason do the vocals in another and send them over? What was the approach to recording? One cab with a couple mics straight up or did you mix in a bunch of diff mic'ed cabs to get a bigger sound? always interested in what people have done here to get their sounds.

Honestly? No mics, no cabs, all Axe FX II direct, no reamping, no dual signal. Just my axe fx and that tones I've programmed in :)

Definitely heard a big Slash influence on the tone. Man, you made me go on a YT detour checking out old Cry Of Love stuff. Brother was a nice breath of old school rock in the middle of all the early 90's sludge. Love the solo Freed plays in You Gotta Love Me. I would try and cop that all the time.

Yeah, definitely some Lynch goodness in there.....and the good flavors too.

Almost seems like a culmination of ULAK era meets....well, Mason era Lynch Mob stuff.

A+ in my book !

Well that's embarrassing... lol.. usually I can swear I hear the Axe. In a mix I guess it is the great equalizer. Now I don't feel so bad about going over to tube amp into load box into cab impulses cause they sound awesome too.

So how did you get Mason to sing for you? I always figured guys like that will want some $ sent there way for their services?

Thanks to all for the feedback on that solo :) that's from another CD I'm working on which Robert isn't on, but it's got some great tunes on it (even though it's my own opinion lol) stuff that I'm happy with anyway!

Skoora - thanks! Yeah I always LOVED the Slash UYI tone (particularly the tone on Locomotive which has a little more mid range boost to my ears than some of the other tracks) so I worked a long time to get my tone to where it was similar but still had enough extras in it for me to be able to pull off playing my own style too (as Im using the same tone on that tattoos n bruises solo I just posted yet it sounds totally different doesn't it? lol).

To tie that in to what Kapo asked - it's actually Cry of Love that got us together. I do a lot of session work and compose for tv shows (Lockup, Duck Dynasty etc, don't judge me too harshly lol) anyway we are tied in through some of the same production companies. When we first met I was actually a guest at a Warrant warmup gig. I told Robert after the gig that I love Warrant and all, but I was there because I am a MASSIVE CoL fan. Anyway, at the time I don't think he expected a 20 something English guy in LA who'd previously lived in North Carolina to be talking to him in Hollywood about his Diamonds and Debris CD. We hit it off and did the first tune together (Breaking Down) as a one off, it went very well for all accounts and so I showed him my other tunes and he told me he wanted to sing Devils Daughter... And away we went lol.

As a top secret tidbit - we are working on material right now that I can only say sounds like Cry of Love on steroids. I'm playing my Warmoth strat rather than my custom PRS which they built for my rock tone and it is basically Audley style with more over drive. It's pretty sick stuff and Robert sounds unbelievable.

Oh and one last thing - an axe fx that's set up right will always, always sound as good as a real amp. I don't care how much anyone disagrees, it's the same as anything. Neal Schon went direct through a Boss GT6 for the longest time and because their was cabs on stage no one said anything. Why? If it's set up right, it's set up right lol.

Trust your ear, not what *should* sound better theoretically :)

Thanks for the heads up Stephen!! Digging the Tattoos and Bruises solo!!! And I can't stop listening to the ep. Definetly looking forward to all the stuff you've got coming down the pipeline. And you've got me needing to check out Cry of Love!!! I love Robert's work with Lynch, BC and Warrant.

Side note for everyone, if your digging Robert's vocal work, check out Big Cock(yes, that's a band name). Killer straight up ballsy rock with a little innuendo thrown in(noticing a pattern with Robert's lyrics lol). I believe they did 3 CDs and all are killer
