what do you think? heard even with the power scaling at 3 watts the amp is INSANELY LOUD! yes, no? tone is great in the clips i have heard.

Shoot mentoneman a pm...he would be the local Mojave expert :D

I'd love to have a Scorpion. I do own a Coyote and a Peacemaker and I love them both. They are both modded with master volumes. Loud amps and don't really give up the goods until you wind em up pretty good. Not a great bedroom amp I'd say but for live and band practice situations they do rock.

I have had my Peacemaker for almost 7 years. The Scorpion is a great sounding amp too. Beware of the clips though. Chasing the tone that is in the Mojave clips with the same Mojave has disappointed many, many players.

ive played the scorpion a few times and like the peacemaker and coyote they all have mojave's vintage voicing, but the scorpion had the 50 watt sound that reminded me of ufo era schenker heavy tone-saxon-riot ish

i like it but i like peacemake more.

Yes, I own a Mojave Scorpion, use it all the time with a 16 ohm Hotplate and old Marshall 4x12 with blackbacks. I've a few Marshalls and a Soldano HR50+ but I tend to use this one the most. I've always gravitated towards the non-mv amps and this one has just a little more without having to resort to pedal distortion. I'm amazed at the resale on these,

,..and yes, Curt's album is a superb representation of the Mojave tone.

Thanks buddy! It is almost all boosted Mojave though. Maxon OD-808, Fulltone OCD, Boss SD-1, MXR 6 Band all make appearances on there. There was only one song that was mainly straight Mojave and for whatever reason, the day I recorded that, the amp sounded mean enough on it's own. I think it was Mr. Anderson, but would have to listen to the CD again to remember for sure and I don't ever want to hear those songs again :D

curt, steve, zach, mark, jj, mixhoyt, and others here on this thread know mojave tone is really addicting, although it's not robogain easy to play or even jcm 800 preamp level gain. the first wave of buyers were pretty stumped by the lack of gain, compared to the early clips vic posted which suggested heavier amounts of gain was available in a traditional modern preamp sense.

but experience has demonstrated to me that it is a combination of many things, pickups, power amp crankage, wet effects on a separate amp, and speaker breakup, that vic used to make the tone heard on the clips come alive. not as simple/easy, but better TONE imo. i've played his rig enough to know i couldn't do it his way; i need more front end gain, but at least i learned what the compromises were and try to balance his method of best tones with my methods of playability for faster leads.
