I just started ordering bulk strings. Haven't bought packs of strings much in years save for flatwound stuff. I found a company called "just strings". They were really cheap and I had good results. He closed up shop and retired last year so I tried bulk strings from some place called C.B Gitty's that claim they are US made. Seems to be working out but they aren't as cheap as juststrings was.

In bulk. I don’t know about the rest of the country but the PACNW destroys anything and everything metal.

Who are you ordering bulk from? I had found a few different places but it seemed like most of them were crazy money vs juststrings. Id never heard of c.b. gittys, i dont even like the name but I got what i ordered and the prices werent too crazy.

I have tuned to 429 (44 cents below 440) for over 20 years. It just sounded right to me back when I started doing it and now I’ve been doing it so long that anything else sounds weird.

I've been digging these tuned to E standard on a Strat. They feel good. Drop D is sacrificed a bit though with the .040" low E.

I’m going to try these on a Strat (E standard) I just got. It came with 7’s on it and I actually didn't hate them, just too slinky on the high strings. I currently just put 8.5-40 on it (GHS) and it feels pretty good. I’ve ordered the 9-40 to try them out for a hair more tension on the high strings but the 8.5’s do feel good though.

They really do feel balanced. I ended up using medium picks with them though because I hit them too hard with heavys. The balanced .010s are great on a Les Paul too.

I buy bulk meaning the gauges are individually packaged by size in long plastic bags that aren't wound into a circle the way traditional packs is. A dozen per sleeve. Didn't know that about CB Gitty as I only went there for strings. I hate cigar box guitars tbh. The sight of them angers me. Not sure why but they do.

Eb works better with 25.5” scales than 24.75”. That extra 3/4” makes a noticeable difference.

Works great for me on all.

I've got 25.5, 24.75 and 25.00. Strats, Pauls and PRS.

I use 10-46 gauge on all my guitars, all tunings. Back when I played a ton it was always funny watching someone try out my Pauls tuned to EFlat with a dropped D lol.

Same here. I love how easy a Gibson is to play tuned down with light strings and the stop tailpiece raised up for max slinkiness.

This tuning is cool but you'll want to pull your own hair out if trying to play along with almost any other preexisting track. You can't just move notes up or down a fret to match the pitch.

Back in the 90’s I had a Denon tape deck with a pitch control. Was awesome for tuning the track to the guitar. At the time, I was in an AC/DC tribute and during the Bon years they had a lot of shit that was inbetween.
