Any of you thinking about this. Massive gear purge

I already did. I'm down to an Axe II and a Matrix power amp. I still may buy a low-cost amp, like the 50w 5153, just to have a tube amp, but I'm not sure I even need that. I'm really wanting another LP Custom though.

If you don't mind my asking, about what did the end all coin count come to for the Axe II and power section.

i know the rig i was using with the axe fx cost me about 4200 altogether with poweramp, midi controller, cabinet. plus more for the full range setup i was running for awhile, and then the monitors i used at home. it was too expensive and i didn't like all the tweaking. its works great for some guys though. i kept trying models and then i would just want the real amps and not be satisfied with the modeled version. some dudes say its a GAS killer... it made mine worse!

I would be interested in several of your pieces. Let me know if you actually do decide to list. Thanks

I hear ya. The wife is sick today and I am home. Just spent a half hour playing my TJ along with Music Choice burning time. A delay in the loop and clean boost is my entire affects chain. Just the good tube tones and some volume knob changes on the guitar work.

The axe seems like it could be great, have 5-10 rigs modeled. Just step between them with one click. The stereo effects work with no amp phasing issues, ground loops, all the other BS.

IF, big if there, I heard you right, the axe works good for a simplistic set up kind of person. There are too many options for a tweaked type   , you get tempted to never stop tweaking.

I'm pretty damn happy with stuff I have now. The only amp I could see myself selling at some point is my Cameron Jose Marshall mod, but it is a pretty unique piece in that it has a 6 way gain style switch on back and is in a cool white head cab so I'll likely keep it. The only reason I'd sell is that it overlaps a bit too much with other stuff I have. All the rest of the amps I have are staying.

Pretty soon I'll be selling two Mojave Ampworks 4x12 cabs and an original (pre-Brad) Cameron 4x12 cab. All will be unloaded and for sale locally only (SoCal). The only way I'd ship them is if someone paid for UPS Store to pack 'em. Two are mint - one Mojave has some tolex tears on top so that will be taken into consideration on pricing. I'll be selling them cheap to move them. Gotta make room for 3 Henning Amplification 4x12 cabs!!

I can't see me selling any of the guitars I have now and in fact, I just ordered another guitar from GMW that is definitely a departure for me... More on that when it arrives. Let's just say Curt (Chubtone) will be proud of me...

Oh yeah, I also have another Custom Shop Charvel on order from Curt, but given that I'm 16 months in on a quoted 8 month delivery timeframe from the Custom Shop, I have no idea when I'll ever get that. It will go straight to Dan Lawrence when it arrives, so I'll probably get to finally play it in 2025...

I'm definitely interested in the Strymon Timeline, but with an El Cap and two SDE3000 delays in my rig, I have a hard time justifying getting one...

Pretty soon I'll also have a pile of Henning Cherry Bombs sitting around the house as well... Perhaps someone will buy them... If not, I'll have the raddest spare bedroom on the planet...

That's about it for me gear wise... Building amps has taken away a lot of my gear jones now. Between getting the amp thing going and making some time to play for fun, I don't have much obsessing time. I've really got the stuff I can see staying around long term.

Of course, I still get a hankerin' for a new guitar a couple times a year though... We're all nuts, I tell ya!

Yep! that was my experience. I like to keep my tube rigs very minimal and straightforward, because I can waste days twiddling knobs and pedals. It's so much worse with modelers. I seem to work better if I limit my options and get right down to playing. if you're the kind of guy who can take a modeler with infinite possibilities, find something you dig, then "set it and forget it" then the axe fx would work out great.

$2278 for the axe - 2 day shipping from Fractal
$829 for the Matrix - shipped direct from England in 2 days.

I haven't decided on these yet, but...about $778 shipped if I want to buy the Fractal Midi board and $130 or so if I buy a Mission expression pedal. I did buy a lap top to keep in my guitar room - I'll use it with the Axe - that was $330.

Nah, Im finally happy with what I have. I have gone through what you have in the past many times but thats long gone. Gear is the least of my considerations these days; I have everything I need and love what I have. Playing and learning more along with just getting better is my number one priority by a long shot..
