Someone posted a vid of Skid Row on SNL, from back in their prime, a couple years ago and it was killer. I can't find it now. My guess is SNL had all of their vids pulled from Youtube.

hehe the video is actually a hella lot more bad ass :rawk:

(and doesnt' have a 1:30 intro)

My band's adding Slave To The Grind so I've been revisiting some of their stuff. I forgot how much they kicked ass back in the day.

Yeah, man...one of the only "hair" discs I still regularly spin. SttG is a badass cd.

+1  STTG and Lizard from Saigon kick..

The Lizard is another great one, unfortunately it goes under-appreciated for the most part....

Skid Row/Saigion Kick connection: Saigon Kick (or maybe just Jason Bieler) is partly responsible for the guitar tones on Slave to the Grind, actually. The SR guys dug his tone and saw that he was using Riveras so they used them, at least in part, on SttG.

I got to open for SK on The Lizard tour, bummed me out when I found out that all the b/u harmony vox were fake. :aww: Still a great band.

Saigon Kick! Geez - I forgot about those guys. They were from the Tampa area if I remember correctly? I nearly "pumped" a sister of one of the band members in Cleveland... She was low on air!

Gear related that's about the best I've ever heard a Rivera amp sound! The mix on the album was good too and I remember reading the liner note saying Rivera but alot of times the guys recording use modded Marshall and then take the endoresment deal amps on the road. But from what I hear on the video those were Rivera amps on that album.

What model Rivera were they using?

Yes I know except Bieler boosted his with a Boss Od..

+1 on Skid Row.
I even like Subhuman Race. They had some great tunes there too. My enemy's main riff is a crusher, breaking down is just a sweet song.
Michael Wagener has a long thread on Gearslutz on the STTG guitar tone.
ADA MP1 into a Marshall head as a poweramp. As far as I remember he even tells the actual ada firmware rev and settings.
And here's something odd but I likey

Well Michael Wagner is supposedly joining this forum; he will know for sure. If memory serves though, I believe the Skids were using either Rivera TBRs or Rivera M100s -- they are virtually the same circuit, but the TBR has an added mid-slope control.

To me the key to STTG is the mix -- if you pan hard left or hard right, the actual tones are quite different, but when added together in stereo it is glorious...just one of the best tones ever IMO.
