I'd love to put my Vibe up against the two new Studio amps. I might just have to purchase one for the comparison.

Yeah I’m on the fence about getting the 20 watt 800 or the Plexi. I’m feeling the same way about gain and I’ve always been a Gain monster. Been listening to a lot of old Uli Roth and Yngwie, even Van Halen, and that juiced up plexi sound is just glorious.
So much that even I find the 800 to sound compressed to my ears these days.

I was watching a video of the two amps (those "greetings Chappers" guys, can't remember name) and the JCM 800 sounded better to me.

I was in the Marshall room at NAMM when the guy from The Darkness played I Believe in a Thing Called Love through the new head. I can't recall if it was the Plexi or JCM800 one, but it sounded heavenly and at reasonable volume.

So my thinking is, for what these cost new you should be able to find a REAL vintage Marshall be it an 800 or maybe for a little more, a real JMP NMV from the 70s. These mini amps are cool, but I bet in a year they'll be used MINT ones for 899.

I'm sure. If I wanted stupid loud 100 watts, I'd buy one. It's not practical. This is, with FX loop, and 5 watt option. People seem to overlook these determining factors. People also fail to realize the price factor, as they're imported. A used vintage for $1200 typically isn't. People in the UK pay much less for these.

Ask a person in the UK how cheap Mesa is there. Buying Marshall there, is like what we used to pay for a US Peavey, here, new and used.

Mindless noodling, but sounds promising..

When he kicks on both boosts that sounds pretty wicked! Would still like to log some time with the JCM800 though. And wish there was a vid of the guy from The Darkness playing through one!

None of my Plexis have close to that much gain, even when dimed. Well, maybe the 1987xl does, but it still needs a tiny bit of a boost to get to metal territory.

Ahh, for used I'd agree but new? They're 849 (1120$)pounds vs 1300 here so what, 180? And I never understand the "100w is too loud" thing...there are volumes on these vintage amps. I've never had a problem finding a good LOW volume setting on ANY vintage amp. Never.
But, these RI are cool amps. On a side note, you can buy the 100w Jubilee RI from Andertons for LESS than what these little amps go for. 1100. Crazy. I might buy one from them, and buy a 50$ step transformer and have a new 2555x for 600 LESS than what they sold for here, plus they are unavailable in the states.

Wow that clip had a ton of gain, and the low end seemed pretty tight. I think it sounded very good; not really a Plexi type sound, but pretty sweet.

Well, I wouldn't have set the pedal dials as he stated he did, for one. I would have dimed the level on the screamer, gain at zero, and I don't turn my EP past just barely cracked open.

I've got a Savage Drive I hope to punish it with, and 10-band in the loop!
