How did ya injure it? That'll be key to working out what it is...

The crunching is prolly just from the swelling...if the doc has manipulated it all out and it's stable apart from the pain, ya may have a bursitis or a tendonitis.

slipped on ice at work. geeked my knee and got a compression fracture in one of my lumbar vertabrae. no swelling. seems like it hurts at the top of the tibia and fibula. i'm thinking strained mcl and torn meniscus.

It may be the torn meniscus symptoms won't be evident until the swelling goes down...mine was classic i that I had a flap that would sometimes fall into the joint causing excruciating pain and joint failure...but most days nothing or a dull ache....since the surgery I get a reminder when the weather changes but it's virtually 99% pain free and fully operational.

Now the other knee has a tendonitis....not the mcl or the acl...but the damned patellar tendon....that bitch will not heal no matter what I do. It's localized pain and swelling tight at the front and just bellow the kneecap...was wondering if that's waht you did.

Given you fell on the ice and chances are sat on your lower leg sideways or summat (which is what caused my meniscus tear)...I'd say you're probably dead on.

i think you hit the nail on the head. did you stay at a holiday inn express last night?

A torn or worn meniscus is so so common but the operation to correct it is real simple. You go in as a day case for a GA and a procedure called an arthroscopy where they will look into your knee with a camera. If it torn or worn they will trim a or shave it, procedure takes about 30 - 45 mins all in and you'll be back home a few hours later.
Three tiny scars from where the camera has been .... unlike me who got mine done around 26 years ago, have a huge incision and was in hospital for 10 days :(

Have had multiple knee surgeries due to motocross riding/racing. Really hard to tell for sure without an MRI, if you want a quick answer that you can bank on. I've been given bad info by docters because they did not do an MRI, and it only prolonged the suffering. Knee injurys are hell, hate your having to deal with that . If it is torn, they may be able to scope it, and clean it up if the tear is not too bad, if it is in fact torn in two, you will feel a nice knot where it has wadded up. the swelling will not go away for long enough that you will know somthing is not right, and the pain will force you to get it fixed. Hang in there bro- Jim

thanx guys. went back to work today with bad results. after 30 minutes i was done. went home after2 hours. trying to get an appointment with a specialist now.

yep, best to see an orthopedic guy or gal. they're even picky about who does your MRI or more specifically who reads it.
