Just wondering....

I have had nearly every flavor of modded marshall (cameron, fortin, voodoo, splawn, friedman) and many derivatives thereof (bogner, wizard, mako, etc.) and am considering going back to just a jmp or 800 with a pedal. Currently I am running a cameron overhauled bogner xtc and a marshall afd100 but am currently considering just going with a JMP or 800 and perhaps something for cleans...But, its quite a jump to make!

I did for a while. Very liberating. I still reserve the right to do it again.

yup...I did for about a year (had a stock JCM800 2204 and a MIJ SD1). Great tone for sure...but very loud :)

Yep, just running a plexi (with attenuator thank goodness!) and a few boost pedals. Just great tone. I'm not a metal guy though. Just classic/hard rock. Thing of beauty.

Kinda. I don't have a lotta Marshall Love, so I don't own any. However, every once in awhile I'll plug my LP into my Stiletto I, and it is pure Classic Rock Bliss!

Thinking about it right now in fact. Currently have an XTC Classic and a VHT Ultralead. Like 'em both, but the VHT is usually what I choose to gig with, because my band plays heavier modern rock most of the time. So I'm thinking of selling the XTC and looking into Marshall type amps right now with the intention of using it for more "rootsy" stuff. Would like to try a 1959RR, but not sure if that's what I'm looking for. Some of the tones that I really dig and have in-mind are Damon Johnson's tones on the Brother Cane CDs, Candlebox, etc. Want to be able to do higher-gain tones in a pinch (can use my OCD to help-out with that), but really wanting something that's got that vintage sparkly well-defined crunch too. I dunno... this is what I am thinking right now anyways...

For recording all I normally use is either a 68 or 69 plexi 100 watt cranked. Usually no pedal.

Yup, 1st time I played my ceriatone 1987/tubescreamer I knew that was exactly what I was looking for. Now I got a 1959 Marshall reissue from 1999 Also. I made my egnater seminar back to stock jcm800 and use that with a tubescreamer for live since its got a master volume. I would like to get an 18-25 Watt nmv amp for live.

I still have an early 80's 2203 w/6550's and yeah. Whenever I go back to it and throw an Boss SD1 and GE7 in front of it it brings a smile to my face :) I need a cap job tho :(

Hey man, how did you get your Seminar Head back to stock 800?? I love mine, but this would be cool to do. Does it take much??

With the hundreds of OD pedals out there, I would think one would be able to find something that would sound decent? Plexi will make you deaf in a big hurry.

On ceriatones website look at the resistor and cap values on the first two tubes on their jcm800 layout and change the egnaters to those values.
Its been a while since i did it , but I think that was all.

I'm currently building a studio and we had to clear everything out so we can finally paint the walls and paint/seal the concrete. Everything got moved into the garage except for a few things...my Marshall JCM800 1987 (4 input), one of my 2x12 Mesa's and my pedalboard. Matty's got plans and misses messing with a good ol' Marshall.

If all goes well I may be breaking out the Marshall a whole lot more. I can't wait to record it, that's for sure!

My 1987 And 1959 With a tubescreamer record better than any other amp I've tried. Sound seems to jump out of the speaker.

Thats what I'm doing right now. I have 3 different boosts and od's on my board though for different flavors.

Started there. Tried a bunch of other crap and now I'm back there.
