I don't understand why people discount the Single Recs so much...I had a very early Single Rec I bought right from this board, and loved it. I miss that amp so much. I'm 100% sure I would be playing electric guitar a lot more often if I still had that amp. It sounded killer, and I found it to be much more versatile than everyone told me it . A GEQ in the loop to shape the cleans a bit, along with a very subtle chorus, and I could get nice clean sounds. Tons of gain available, and I had a lot of fun playing around with different tubes in it. The GEQ did a lot of the gain sounds as well, but wasn't neccesary. A OD pedal out front is important though, for ALL of the Rectos. A clean boost does wonders.
I never jived with the Road King, but the Roadster sounds good to my ears, and is easy to dial in. My favorite Recto sounds come from the Racktifier though. That thing is killer. I'm sure they are expensive and hard to find these days though. Someone in here will tell me that the Racktifier is just a Rev G Dual from blah blah blah...whatever. Tremoverb is cool too, but you're missing out on some options there.
I've heard good things about the new multi-watt stuff, and the Rectifier Mini. I'd like to try out one of the Mini's, they look really cool.
