Anybody know about Mesa Rectifier amps?

Man this is confusing as all hell. I wish I wasn't so dumb.

So basically stay away from high serial numbers, which means all the newer stuff?

If I have to go with a newer one, dual or triple rectifier? I prefer a lot of gain and saturation, but I don't really need 150W as a cellar dweller.

It's easy. Like the tone of the video, get a two-channel Triple Rec. They aren't really louder than a Dual Rec. People make too much of the revisions. Just get whatever two channel Triple. The one in the video (that you like) is a common Rev G. I can tell by the size of the Mesa logo.

i would stay away from the roadking. i had a series one and could never gel with it, and i'm a mesa fanboy. it's like there is just to many options. would love to try a roadster. i also dig the rectoverbs. my all time favorite is the tverb, just something about that amp that does it for me.

There's a ton of Tri-rec's in the $1000 range, but they are all newer models.

and they sound like Rectos.

Coincidentally I am likely picking up a Rev F in a trade in a few days. I don't know much about these amps except for what I've heard in passing on the internet, but I did notice that the front has a FT SW input on it, did these amps come with footswitches?

Yes, the two channels have a simple one-button switch to change between the channels.

Cool thanks.

Any if anyone has had a Rev F or in general uses EL34s for their Rec, what brand do you prefer (other than =C=)?

I would never pay more than a 1000 (actually not even a 1000) for a 2 ch rev G. My local GC had a Triple G for 850 and I see them for that or a little more frequently. They're very temperamental to what guitar is going in. Actually they sound tight and killer with lower output pickups or at least a pickup with a lean low end. I used to have success running an EQ in the front that rolled off a little bass. Keeps the front end tighter and you can get the gain up a little more with out it flubbing out. An EQ in the loop of a recto is a powerful thing.

I don't understand why people discount the Single Recs so much...I had a very early Single Rec I bought right from this board, and loved it. I miss that amp so much. I'm 100% sure I would be playing electric guitar a lot more often if I still had that amp. It sounded killer, and I found it to be much more versatile than everyone told me it . A GEQ in the loop to shape the cleans a bit, along with a very subtle chorus, and I could get nice clean sounds. Tons of gain available, and I had a lot of fun playing around with different tubes in it. The GEQ did a lot of the gain sounds as well, but wasn't neccesary. A OD pedal out front is important though, for ALL of the Rectos. A clean boost does wonders.

I never jived with the Road King, but the Roadster sounds good to my ears, and is easy to dial in. My favorite Recto sounds come from the Racktifier though. That thing is killer. I'm sure they are expensive and hard to find these days though. Someone in here will tell me that the Racktifier is just a Rev G Dual from blah blah blah...whatever. Tremoverb is cool too, but you're missing out on some options there.

I've heard good things about the new multi-watt stuff, and the Rectifier Mini. I'd like to try out one of the Mini's, they look really cool.

The Tremoverb was the final revision of the two channel amps. It has more options than any of the two channel amps. Besides having tremolo and reverb it has the Blues channel. Other than that it is like the other two channel.

I tried out my friends mini. Thing had like no gain to speak of IMO. For what I'm looking to do, I know I'll have to use a boost pedal. I'm just trying to decide what I need, which is the tough part. Single, dual, triple. I mean I don't really play clean and don't need 3 channels.

If I only played heavy.... I would absolutely get a two channel Triple.

I understand everyone has their favorites but I wouldn't look past the single rec or rectoverb. I have a rectoverb 50 and I think they are great sounding amps. Very cheap used as well.
