Anybody know about Mesa Rectifier amps?

The Tremoverb was the final revision of the two channel amps. It has more options than any of the two channel amps. Besides having tremolo and reverb it has the Blues channel. Other than that it is like the other two channel.
Hmm, what was I thinking of then? The Rectoverb? One of them is missing some options, like the tube/SS rectifier toggle, right?

I really dig the Tremoverb. Sounds great, and looks cool too.

I tried out my friends mini. Thing had like no gain to speak of IMO. For what I'm looking to do, I know I'll have to use a boost pedal. I'm just trying to decide what I need, which is the tough part. Single, dual, triple. I mean I don't really play clean and don't need 3 channels.
No gain on the Mini? That's unfortunate. I wonder if there was something wrong with it? Bad tubes or something.

A clean boost will tighten a Recto up a lot. The classic is a tube screamer flavor in front, run clean. Maxon OD808 is the popular choice from what I've seen. I used a Digitech Bad Monkey, got the job done just fine. An EQ in the loop is great fun as well, but not necessary. I ended up using the GEQ only for my clean sounds with my Single Rec.

Now WTF is this, this is pretty damn confusing on a tremoverb.

Nevermind, figured it out

channel cloning where you can setup both channels in the same mode and tweak them accordingly. Have a vintage channel for rhythm and a second vintage channel with higher mids and treble for a lead sound, etc.

Yeah. I have my Triple with both channels set to Vintage mode. One is set for a lower gain crunch in the realm of a JCM800. The other is set for higher gain. If I want really heavy stuff, I use an OD808 to boost the lower-gain channel.

First time I used the OD808 with the Triple, I played just chugga chugga metal riffs for what must have been two hours. I couldn't stop myself. It was just THE tone for that stuff. And the amp can do a lot more too. Great amp.

I use a somewhat unusual cab with it though: an old JCM800 cab with G12-65 speakers. But I really love it.

I've always been curious as to what a Recto sounds like with different speakers, outside of the usual V30s. I paired a 2 channel Dual up with an old Mesa 1x12 with a C-90 in it. Sounded pretty good to me, but those cabs sound great all of the time

I'd like to hear some clips of Rectos with different speakers. I'm quite curious.

I can try to get some clips together. I have an Apogee One that I can try to use for the first time. The G12-65s kinda take the edge off the Recto. Warmer and I can run the presence a bit higher without the dreaded "fizz" coming through. You have to watch the bass, but it's not overwhelming.

I mostly play my Axe-FX, but when I get a chance to turn it up a bit, I will use my 2-Channel Triple with an 808 in front, and a GE-7 in the loop

I use Eminence V30s. I have two 212 cabs, one Gflex the other an Avatar with the V30s. You would think the Gflex would be better, but the Triple sounds better with the V30s for some reason. Too many low mids or something with the Gflex.

I don't understand why people discount the Single Recs so much...I had a very early Single Rec I bought right from this board, and loved it. I miss that amp so much. I'm 100% sure I would be playing electric guitar a lot more often if I still had that amp. It sounded killer, and I found it to be much more versatile than everyone told me it . A GEQ in the loop to shape the cleans a bit, along with a very subtle chorus, and I could get nice clean sounds. Tons of gain available, and I had a lot of fun playing around with different tubes in it. The GEQ did a lot of the gain sounds as well, but wasn't neccesary. A OD pedal out front is important though, for ALL of the Rectos. A clean boost does wonders.

I never jived with the Road King, but the Roadster sounds good to my ears, and is easy to dial in. My favorite Recto sounds come from the Racktifier though. That thing is killer. I'm sure they are expensive and hard to find these days though. Someone in here will tell me that the Racktifier is just a Rev G Dual from blah blah blah...whatever. Tremoverb is cool too, but you're missing out on some options there.

I've heard good things about the new multi-watt stuff, and the Rectifier Mini. I'd like to try out one of the Mini's, they look really cool.

is that the one i sold you?

The Single Rectos sound pretty good, but I prefer using the tube rectifiers at all times, and the Single Recs don't have those.

I didn't hear much difference, if any, between the first 3-channels and the new multiwatts, with the exception of the 50 watt mode (which was pretty nice, made the amp sound a touch warmer IME).

I did not like the Mini Rec. Played side-by-side with a new Triple, the Mini Rec sounded buzzy and small. The Triple sounded bigger and better at any volume IMHO.

Yeah the triple is amazing for metal stuff compared to the dual or single and the mini.

^ Yes. You could order Rev G amps with a chrome chassis and/or faceplate. Some of the earlier Rev G amps had small Mesa logos and hard-wired power cords, which are typically associated with the earlier revisions.

Well it's done. Got a newer one, hope I like the thing

Then you have weird ones like mine: Rev. G board, chrome chassis, attached power cord, and big logo. From what I've been able to gather, it's a mutt of available parts from when it was originally ordered.

Indeed it was.

I just locally bought a Roadster with 4x12 cab for $1100 (kind of a score). It is unreal sounding. I like it better than the other Mesa amp that I have owned. They all were great amps, but the Roadster takes the cake (to me).

Got my triple rec. one word. MUD
Only got 10 minutes with it before I had to leave.
