Anybody know about this Explorer?

I've been gassing for an Explorer and ran across this

I like a tremolo but something tells me this tremolo is garbage. I'd rather have a hardtail than a tremolo that won't keep a tune. I'm spoiled by my Ibanez Edge circa 1989 which is a rock and never goes out of tune. Anybody know anything about these?

I am sure the Floyd is the same as on the Les Paul Axcess, which is a Ping MIC Floyd. I have heard mixed things. You could always swap it out for a Gotoh, which is the best Floyd I have played. They are fantastic on my Suhrs. I will say 24 frets, Ebony board, 60s style neck, is mighty tempting. I have always liked the Explorer shape. Need to try one for sure.

WHOA! Where did this model come from? That's almost my dream guitar! Get rid of the floyd and brighten up the white a little (snow white instead of vintage white), and I'm ALL over that shit. I've always wanted a 1984 Gibson Explorer.

If you get one, let me know if the tremolo is crap or not. If I want to replace it with a Gotoh, is it just taking original off and putting the Gotoh on or do I have to do any drilling/routing? Do you have to take the trem posts anchors out?

they've been listening lately and appear to be making an effort. started Pleking, and came out with this guitar. the Silverburst Dethklok is pretty cool.

i'll holler for sure or atleast start a thread. imagine i'll leave the trem on as long as it stays in tune.


i'm guessing the Gotoh would be a simple swap, but don't know for sure? guessing it just boils down to if you want to change the posts or not?

Yeah, that's a Ping 1000 series Floyd - made in Korea, not the Chinese Floyd Rose Special. I've got the 7 string version on my SLAT3-7, and while it feels different from a German Floyd, it's been solid so far.
