Got it too. I had exceptional hearing when I was younger. My hearing is alright now, but I definitely did a number on my ears with loud amps and band practices. I'm on a strict no loud noises policy too, so hopefully my hearing / tinnitus won't worsen.

What kills me is recording vocals, though. Seems unless the music is blaring, I can't hear it over my voice on the loud parts.

It's a real fucking pain in the ass. I was on chemotherapy when I was 17 and that's what caused it. I'm 27 now and I only expect it to get worse. Keeping my fingers crossed for some stem cell breakthrough or something.

They're already regrowing cochlea in lab mice, with returned hearing from complete deafness.

Imagine that....amps on 10 all the time, and when you go deaf? Just make a trip to the doctor and you're all set!

Loud band practices & concerts without hearing protection. MY OWN DUMB FAULT

Thankfully its not too bad & I only seem to notice it in a quite room.

As others have said, earplugs are 100% from now on.

Always careful with volume levels, and despite a life of playing in bands and running FOH ("fulltime job" for both), a head-on motorcycle accident with me spearing the windshield of the car that crossed the double-yellow into my path (60mph vs 65mph) has provided for a lovely symphony of high(er) pitched tones. At any given time, always at least one frequency screaming, up to three additional frequencies layered now and then. Blood pressure and sinus health have a huge impact.

I've been around turbine engines for the past 12 years; all of my hearing tests have said that I'm good, but I'm beginning to notice slight loss now. I do get spells of tinnitus, usually associates with lack of sleep, stress, or dehydration.

I've had it for a while, but I've always fired guns and sat in front of loud ass amps for as long as I can remember. I still tone-test amps by sitting dead in front of the speaker cabinet with a guitar. Just not as often. I use In-ear monitors nowadays when playing live or teching. Absolutely saves my ears and gives me the mix I want. A decent wireless pack and In-ears is one of the best investments you can make in your live music arsenal, for both quality of sound and hearing protection.

I'm 24 and I've got it. It started when I shot an HK G3 in 7.62x51 NATO without hearing protection. The hearing in my left ear has never been the same. My Uberschalls haven't helped either.
