Anyone ever build one of these amp kits?

As tempting as one of the Valvestorm kits would be, I've been doing some math on cost to build one. I'd probably go for a 2203 or 2204 clone. At $500 or so plus transformers it's a bit more than I want to invest in my first attempt. I'm fairly certain I could handle it, especially since the instructions are pretty detailed. Though on the chance it's beyond my ability or I fuck something up, I don't want to be out the money or invest more to pay someone to finish it.

I think the N5X kit from Ampbuilder is going to be the way I'll go. Roughly $250 for everything including transformers is more my comfort in investment this time around. The clips of it sound pretty good and I'm perfectly happy with building a little 5 watter. After I successfully complete this one I'll be more inclined to try something more substantial (and costly).

I ended up ordering one of the N5X kits from ampmaker today. I guess that means I have my next project lined up.

I've done a few Valvestorm/Metro builds and they came out great. I recently did the Mojotone 2204 build (combo) and it absolutely slays. I dare say it sounds every bit as good as my real 4010 and did it for half the money.

What cab did you use for your Mojotone 2204?
