Anyone ever hear of a Canadian amp tech named John Mcintyre?

Yeah... John is local to me here in Calgary. I heard a Fender amp of some sorts with his bluesbreaker mod and wow..... the bereakup just made the hair on the back of my neck stand up. I had also heard that he hasn't been modding for quite some time now but I wonder if he has started again?

Isn't that the same guy that originally designed the old Lexicon guitar amps? I had one and I thought it was quite cool.

Yes he was the original inventor of the stereo 3 watts per side amp which eventually became the Lexicon.

He was written up in Guitar Player Mag way back in the 80s and i called him to mod a Champ for more gain.

He played the Mcintyre Bluesmaster ? 3 watt per side on the phone and i thought it was real good but would have been great with more gain , and it would.

But he didn't want to do it, and it went to Actodyne, then Lexicon.

He's a talented guy, if he made that thing with an extra possibly parallel gain stage- it would have sold like a Rockman, only sounded WAAAAAY better, I wanted it to do kind of the "Brown" sound, then have a smoother roughly EJ voicing- I was even gonna send him a few tapes as a guide..........................and the thing was sort of on it's way already, just not far enough.

I have a custom made John McIntyre Blues Maker 40 Watt amp head that John made for me back in the 90s. Great head and very versatile but I haven't used it in a good while and thinking of letting it go. I always like that the tone knobs are very responsive and you can really shape your tone.
