Anyone experience issue with SLO 100 Boutique Amps Distro version

I have an SLO 100, B.A.D version,.. Had it for about a year or so... I havent touched it in a while and today i finally plugged it in again after maybe... 5 months of non-use... Normally on low volumes (like really low volumes) this thing would be fine on the distortion channel. But now its like a clean channel - over the distortion channel... almost if like you were doing a DI track over a micd up distorted track.

Has anyone experienced this? any suggestions ideas to root out the issue? I tried swapping speaker cables, guitar cables, different guitars ( tried 7 different ones) same issue. I havent swapped tubes or anything yet, but these have less than 10 hours total life play time on them, they should be fine.

To re-iterate, this was not happening before, this just started happening?

The Clean/ Crunch might be bleeding into the High Gain channel. Try it w/ the Clean/ Crunch Volume set to zero.

I’ve had the B.A.D. version since they were first released and never experienced that.
Edited to removed checking cables etc, didn’t read your full post I guess…

It sounds like a tube issue, always rule that out on a tube amp. Tubes can go at any time.

I have a SLO100 and have had no problems with it.

Sounds like the PCB needs solder joints touched up. One of the things the BAD redesign version fixes is the clean channel bleed over in the original series with updated relay switching as well as a true tube buffered effects loop.

As far as the timing goes, it could also be something voltage control related like a bad low voltage supply to the relays isn’t working, causing relays to not respond. Could also be foreign body material shorting something out on the board.

Do these have lifetime warranties like the OGs? I assume no?

Im not sure, I hope they do... I dont see why they wouldnt but... then again.

I actually prefer the bad version over the originals. Mike said the bad versions were updates he always wanted to make to the design but he wasn’t tooled to do it in his production facility.

Same, prefer the newer version. It's killer. Love it.

As for the OP, the SLO has a lifetime warranty to the original purchaser of the amp.
I'd swap preamp tubes one at a time with a known good tube.
Does it matter if effects loop is on or off?

I mean, I agree... or at least I did before this issue started. Lowering clean channel volume doesnt change it. again its only at really low volumes... that used to not matter as much but the walls in this new place are thin. Kid wont be able to sleep if i turn it up any more. its just weird that this would be happening at all.

BAD has been really good about dealing with issues on other products when I've had a need... Hit 'em up...

If you hear the clean channel in the distortion channel, is common in that design. Try to set the clean volume to 0.

I don't hear it on mine, believe it's no longer a thing.

Good to know.... so could be a relay failure. I would try to switch the channels various time, if it get fixed.
