Anyone get sick of listening to music?

I only listen to my cd's while driving. No radio. At home i am too busy with family etc to listen to anything. I really dont play guitar much due to not having time.

Seems all I ever listen to anymore is whatever I'm currently mastering for someone. The car is one of my "acid test" listening environments to get an idea of how the masters translate.
Other than that I've been sort of burnt out on music lately.

Gees, for me it's the radio AND TV. I Stream the live sports events I want to see. I would say 90% of the TV/Movie content I see is via YouTube, streamed or downloaded (the rest being DVD/BluRay). 50% of the new music I listen to is YouTube clips posted either in this forum or by facebook friend referrals.
I'm finished with letting businesses tell me what to watch and listen. They are just peddling syndicated crap these days.

Yeah, I do sometimes. I only ever listen to my iPod when I'm in the car, and I sometimes just don't feel like listening to anything that's on it.

But whenever I discover something new that I really like, I'll flip 180 degrees and listen to it repetitively.

I find when I'm stressed with my everyday life - work - contracts - clients - etc - I tend not to listen to music in the car. I'm too preoccupied and always on the cell. When I'm chillaxed, hell yeah, there's always music on in the car...

At home?? There's always music playing...

Its funny you mention this. I go through periods where I dont have anything in my truck...silence for a month or so, not even the radio, cant stand that shit anyways Then something catches my ear and I'll play it for a while. Then silence again lol

silence is awesome for spending time truly thinking.

for me it's the stern channels, and news. sometimes i check octane and liquid metal. then it's the comedy channels, but i have heard everything they play enough to be able to recite it.

i pre-order new music all the time. sometimes i luck out. lots of good metal out there.

i write mostly by humming riffs into my phone once i have an idea how i'm gonna play them.

willing to bet i spend more time talking to myself in my truck than listening to anything. yup, i'm bat-shit crazy.

Absolutely. I'll go for long stretches of time w/o listening to anything, then grab a few new discs, repeat.

I had no stereo in my car for about 3 years straight (until recently), and most days I still don't use it. I also personally find that the more I listen to music, the less I'm writing my own stuff.

That's funny; I had a car without a radio myself for about 2 years when I went back to school in the mid '90s. And I practically lived in my car between driving to class and delivering pizza at night I did come up with some riffs and whatnot that later became songs for various bands which was interesting.

That's funny. I could have put one in too but too damn lazy I guess. Although, as far as school went, it certainly helped my focus. Basically studying in my head on the 40 minute drive before the test

I listen to as much as i can and thats alot.i drive truck for a living,and drive 11hrs a day.sure,sometimes quiet is good.plus i buy 2-3 discs a/week either thru mail or on itunes.its an addiction i believe.
.i have Sirius in the truck and occasionally listen to Eddie Trunk,Stern or a football/baseball game.but anything thats played on hair nation,liquid metal or boneyard,i already have in my cd collection.so i rarely listen to radio.

i have the instrumental/shred music on my iphone.
32gb ipod holds a shitload of tunes.
plus an ipad 2 with about 90% of my cd collection on it.
think i'm gonna buy another ipod,the classic 160gb and put my whole collection on it and have it at my disposal.

i go in phases of what i listen too.last year i had major whitesnake,ac/dc/motorhead/king diamond/NIN/skinny puppy/ministry/cannibal corpse phases wher i just bought anything i didnt have by them.

i like alot of different genres,plus being a guitarist/musician i also think of it as research.listening to production techniques and such.so i'm analyzing as much as listening.if i get bored with a genre i simply move on the next that catches my ear.

i love it and need it.of course my wife and kids think i'm crazy,but so be it!

I know.....weird question. Just the last 6 months or so I havent listened to music while in the Car.
Mostly Comedy channel or talk radio. When I do click it on a station...just sounds bland to me lately.
Dont get me wrong.....I still love PLAYING music every weekend. And we play for several hours.
I just dont feel like listening it to it lately. Anyone else get in this "slump"?
And I own over 1000 CD's....Tons of MP3's on flash drive I can listen in the car....Satellite radio..
I only listen to the Comedy station.
When with the family driving to and Fro....I just play the local pop station for the kids but pay no attention to the songs.
Am I turning into my Father??
Weird....I know.

I don't really have this problem, because due to the nature of my work there are long periods of when I won't be able to listen to music- usually because it's too noisy.

When I'm driving my car at home I sometimes put the radio on AM Talkback just so I can catch the weather and a half-arsed attempt to be in touch with the news (I don't watch news on TV or read the newspaper). I have recently varied it by tuning into a local electronic music station, even when they play dubstep....wtf Ah well, it's something different! Better than commercial radio- I can NEVER stand that shit!


Otherwise I can't get enough of music- after a long long period I'll find myself tapping a drum beat on my arm or air-guitaring if I hear a cool guitar solo in some song, that's usually playing on someone else's radio. I do though go through cycles, for instance I don't just listen to metal all the time. Barely in fact. But 95% of it is guitar-oriented.

Having the right car makes you not want to listen to music, I suppose. A roaring V8 rivals the best guitar tone.

I listen to the radio very rarely. I have a 6-CD changer in my car and constantly cycle thru my CD collection and listen to CDs back and forth to work. I listen to CDs at work as well and then jam on guitar while playing along with CDs at home.

The cool thing is that I have been finding real bargains on CDs since people are dumping them left and right. There are some "buyback" stores in my area and I just go there and look for bargains. I saw Extreme's Porographitti yesterday for 99 cents!

yep ... i lost total interest ... havnt bought a CD in years .. if i do come across coolness im open to buy a new cd but it has to realy move me Alot to be bought.
also with the amount of bands out there today ive found my search has to dig deeper and takes more time to find something of interest and thats time i can be writing my own material..
A bonus of being switched off is that its better for me to concentrate on creating my own sound rather than blending in with modern trends on the playlist...i got caught up in that in the 80's

not really. I dont listen to radio music unless its the classic rock station. I never really liked popular stuff anyway. I think I know what you mean thought. I get tired of listening to certain types of music and when that happens I change to classical or jazz. I go through spurts, couple months at a time where I'll only listen to classical.
