Anyone Remember Madison Amps/Cabs?

Main reason I ask is I have a lead on a V30 front loaded cab for $300. Not the steal of the century but would be nice to leave at a practice spot and forget about it. I'm pretty sure their later cabs were birch as well, but didn't know if anyone knew for sure?

Otherwise, I know they were cheapo chinese amps marketed as Made in USA Boutique metal masters that were basically identical to the B52 AT100 amps, and were prone to failure, but actually didn't sound half bad.

I remember them well, because my very first tube amp was a Madison Divinity I, and I got it for $500 in 2010. I bought it right before my band went on a 30 day tour, and it literally broke down on me twice in the same tour, and I could never find anyone to repair it once I got home, so I sold it for $100 broken. Fond memories.

Years later, Is cooped up a busted AT100 for $50 and had my tech fix it up, and it actually was a pretty good sounding amp. Anyone else have experience with either, for shits n giggles?

I wish I had one of those early coveted duct tape modded divinity’s with the disconnected presence knob.

Haha! I remember reading about this after buying mine and being like, what the fuck did I get myself into? Haha!

I was 20 when I bought the amp, so stupidity/naivety was still very much present.

I remember them. It was a copy of the Marshall TSL if I remember right.

Yeah TSL copies they were. I’d say that was my favorite HCAF debacle. I wonder what ever happened to PRMike?

Man I had 2 Madison 412's loaded with V30/75's in an X pattern and they were great

PRMike, now there's a blast from the past. Didn't he have a "Fender Twin he modded to a 5150?"

I don't believe this is correct. They might possibly have been built in the same factory as the B52 AT100, but they have a completely different control layout. As others have mentioned, the Divinity was based on a Marshall TSL whereas the AT100 was a Bruce Egnater design.

EXACT cab I'm looking.

They were decent sounding? How was construction quality?

You may be right here, and I'm misremembering. I do also remember reading they were based on a Marshall TSL, but having owned both, I don't recall them even sounding like they were in the same ballpark. To be fair, I had the TSL recently, and the Madison 10 years back.

Buddy of mine has a B52 AT-100 and that thing sounds epic as hell, especially with super low tunings and 8 strings etc.

Honestly once I had mine fixed up, I really dug it.

My tech said they had a good amoutn of design flaws in them that resulted in overheating and reliability issues, so if I ever bought one again, it'd need some work regardless of condition.

I remember in the mid-2000's when I was in high school coveting that amp as an affordable Recto (which was my dream amp at the time).

My old bandmate ended up having one. It sounded pretty good but was very unreliable.

I have confirmed that one of the cabs has T75's. The other one looks to have V30's, but I'm waiting on confirmation.

Worth $300 apiece shipped to my door for each?

I have been seeing marshall 1960's with 75's for $350-400. I mean I guess the speakers are worth it, but I would probably pass myself and just spend a little more and get something else. Also don't those cabs have the rat fur covering?

It does remind me a lot of the Recto sound. He's been having it for years now with no issues but he isn't touring with it or anything like that either.

Bruce Egnater designed them if I recalll correctly.

I had one of those too. They were actually great sounding amps. I actually played a bunch of shows with mine. Lots of people used to say they were Dual Rectifier clones, but they weren't really anything like DRs. I eventually got rid of it because I didn't really trust it. The reverb didn't work from new, and the impedance switch literally fell apart in my hands. However, I took the amp to Glen Morris to have the reverb fixed, and he was actually pretty impressed by the build quality, so maybe it was just a few shoddy components that caused the problems.

Man they seemed great. I gigged the shit out of them actually and they held up well. At least 3 years I had them

That good? How does it compare sonically to some of the standards out there? I know you've owned a few
